Microinjection Methods for Neutrophils

2014
The ability to microinject substances into the cytosol of living neutrophils opens the possibility of manipulating the chemistry within the cell and also of monitoring changes using indicators which otherwise cannot be introduced into the cell. However, neutrophils cannot be microinjected by the conventional glass pipette insertion method.

[28] Microinjection of antibodies

1995
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the use of the microinjection technique as a way to deliver immunopurified antibodies into the cytoplasm of cells in culture. The success in the microinjection of antibodies for neutralization purposes relies mainly on the quality of the antibodies used.

Microinjection of Protein Samples

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2007
INTRODUCTIONThis protocol describes a method for microinjecting proteins into the nucleus or cytoplasm of adherent cells. Microinjection equipment can be obtained from a number of suppliers; this protocol has been used with the Narishige IM-200 air pressure regulator and the Leitz micromanipulator.

Mosquito Embryo Microinjection

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2023
Genetically modified (GM) mosquitoes are an important tool in the fight against mosquito-borne disease, both indirectly through their use in research investigating host–pathogen interaction, mosquito olfaction, and anthropomorphic behavior and in future direct uses for suppression and possibly eradication through sterile insect technique (SIT) and/or ...

Microinjection of Mouse Eggs [PDF]

open access: possibleScience, 1966
A technique has been developed for injecting known amounts of liquids into fertilized one-celled mouse eggs by use of a calibrated ocular micrometer superimposed on the terminal regions of the injection pipette. From 128 pronuclear eggs, each injected with 180 or 770 cubic microns of bovine gamma globulin at a concentration of 25 milligrams per ...

Microinjection of Xenopus Oocytes

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2010
INTRODUCTIONXenopus oocytes can be injected with messenger RNA (mRNA) or DNA constructs into the cytoplasm or nucleus, respectively. The cytoplasm can withstand the introduction of up to 50 nL of injected material, and the nucleus can tolerate up to 20 nL.

Chapter 12 Microinjection of Mitotic Cells

1998
Publisher Summary This chapter reviews the method of direct needle microinjection and discusses the application of this method in the study of mitotic cells. As virtually any molecule of interest that can be purified and obtained at an appropriate concentration can be injected into the living mitotic cell, this method can be utilized to study how ...

Microinjection of Living Adherent Cells by Using a Semi-automatic Microinjection System

Alternatives to Laboratory Animals, 2004
Testing in vitro is an alternative to animal experimentation. The capillary pressure microinjection technique is a supporting technology for efficient in vitro testing. The main benefit of the technique is the possibility of injecting large molecules into a single living cell.

Challenges in capillary pressure microinjection

The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005
Capillary pressure microinjection is a popular method for the delivery of samples into cells. Needs for automatic reliable microinjection systems are growing, but the current systems do not possess ideal characteristics and many researchers do not even recognize the limits of the current systems.

Plating Cells for Microinjection

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2006
INTRODUCTIONThis protocol describes a method for plating cells for microinjection onto etched coverslips. The coverslips for microinjection must be marked so that microinjected cells can be identified at time points after injection. A procedure for etching coverslips is given below; alternatively, pre-etched coverslips can be purchased at slightly ...
