Micropatterned Surfaces with Unidirectional Wetting Properties for Liquid Transport
Micropatterned surfaces that guide droplets in a single direction are gaining attention for their role in liquid transport. This review explores how surface designs enable such behavior, from gravity‐driven flow to stimulus‐responsive movement. It also discusses fabrication techniques, design challenges, and emerging strategies to advance directional ...

Impact Reactivation of a Hydrothermal System in Basalt in the Vargeão Dome Impact Structure, Brazil
Abstract As hydrous minerals have been observed in impact craters on Mars, impact‐generated hydrothermal systems (IGHSs) have been considered as potential habitats for life on that planet. The Vargeão Dome, a 12 km wide impact structure in southern Brazil, was formed in basalts with at least two hydrothermal alteration stages.

Abstract Sea surface temperature (SST) in the Tropical North Atlantic (TNA) ocean is a key component of the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation (AMO) and plays an important role in orchestrating hydroclimatic anomalies on adjacent continents. However, the narrow timespan of reliable instrumental SST records and the limited availability of paleoclimate ...

We present vital life‐history and demographic data including the oceanic stage duration, timing of ontogenetic habitat shifts, and multi‐year foraging patterns of eastern North Pacific green sea turtles found in Southern California. The findings were obtained by analyzing sea turtle bones (age and growth via skeletochronology; and habitat and diet via ...

Nanoscale roughness micromilled silica evanescent refractometer
We demonstrate machining of precision slots in silica with nanoscale roughness for applications in photonics. Using our in-house developed milling system we have achieved machined slots with surface roughness of 3.0 nm (Sa) and 17 µm depth of cut. This result represents eight times improvement in surface roughness and forty times increase in depth of ...

Electrode structuring can enhance the fast‐charging capability of lithium‐ion cells without compromising energy density. This study shows that conventional charge rate tests may obscure these benefits in transport‐limited electrodes due to lithium plating. Using structure calendering, structured anodes are fabricated and evaluated.

Micromilling for Mold Fabrication
A method for manufacturing a new type of CMP pad is presented. The goal is to create a mold containing micro sized features that can be used in vacuum casting to produce the polymeric polishing pads. To achieve this, a positive mold is cut from PMMA using micro milling techniques.
