On the Impact of the Fabrication Method on the Performance of 3D Printed Mixers

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
A wide variety of 3D printing technologies have been used for the fabrication of lab-on-a-chip (LOC) devices in recent years. Despite the large number of studies having examined the use of 3D printing technologies in microfluidic devices, the effect of ...

Microflow Switching using Artificial Cilia for On‐Demand Particle Manipulation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 11, November 2025.
A magnetically actuated artificial cilia platform is developed for reversible microflow switching and particle manipulation. By modulating the beating frequencies via external magnetic fields, the system enables shear‐driven particle trapping, directional release, and in situ microfluidic mixing.

INFLUENCE OF VISCOSITY DIFFERENCE ON THE INSTABILITY OF THE CORE-ANNULAR FLOW

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2003
The process of destabilisation of an axi-symmetric, core-annular flow (CAF) of two Newtonian fully miscible liquids widely differing in viscosity is investigated.

Pulse Driven Injection in an Additive-Manufactured Microchannel for Rapid Mixing of Stratified Concurrent Flow and On-Demand Droplet Generation

open access: yesMicromachines
Laminar co-flow in microchannels typically results in stratified streams with diffusion-limited mixing. This work presents an additively manufactured microfluidic platform that integrates a pulse tank and a transverse injection nozzle into an otherwise ...

A review on biodiesel micromixers: Types of micromixers, configurations, and flow patterns

open access: yesHeliyon
The production of biodiesel conventionally relies on batch reactors for the transesterification of oil and alcohol. However, the inherent limitations of batch-wise biodiesel production, including biphasic oil and alcohol, the establishment of equilibrium during transesterification, and heightened manufacturing costs, underscore the need for ...

Co‐Precipitation of Ni‐Rich Me(OH)2 Precursors for High Performance LiNixMnyCo1‐x‐yO2 Cathodes: A Review

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 8, Issue 6, November 2025.
This review addresses the nucleation mechanism and the thermodynamic and kinetic reaction processes of co‐precipitation. The comprehensive effects of key parameters on precursor physicochemical properties are also systematically interpreted. Notably, precursor characterization and physicochemical properties, including impurity levels and tolerance ...

Experimental Study and Turbulence Dissipative Scale Modelling of the Rapid Micromixing of Impinging, Paper-Thin Sheets of Liquids

open access: yes
Previous studies have shown that the impingement of thin liquid sheets produces high energy dissipation rates due to the release of kinetic energy in a very small volume of liquid (0.0001 to 0.01 g), even though flowrates are on the order of L/min ...
