ABSTRACT Surface‐based biosensor performance is generally limited by mass transfer, especially when detecting low‐concentrated species. To address this, dielectrophoresis (DEP) and alternating current electroosmosis (ACEO) can be combined to enhance mass transfer, increasing the target concentration near the sensor.

Micromixing in Two-Phase (G-L and S-L) Systems in a Stirred Vessel
The literature on micromixing and local-specific energy dissipation rate, epsilon(T) (on which it depends), for two-phase systems is limited and conflicting.

Micro‐ and nanomotors in biomedical applications
Micro‐ and nanomotors (MNMs), as autonomous devices converting chemical or external energy into mechanical propulsion, have emerged as transformative drug delivery platforms in biomedicine. This review systematically outlines the design principles governing MNMs' propulsion and operation, highlights the applications of MNMs in disease treatment, and ...

A chemical probe for characterizing turbulent micromixing
Micromixing strongly affects the molecular-scale contact of chemical species in numerous chemical reactions. Understanding the mechanisms governing micromixing lets us explain the relationships between the turbulence structure and the selectivity of the ...

Experimental Study on Micromixing Characteristics of Coaxial Mixer in SolidLiquid Systems
The combination of a coaxial mixer with micromixing in solid–liquid systems is a new attempt, and the influences of the dispersed phase in such systems and structures on micromixing are uncertain. In this work, the effects of rotation mode, solid holdup,

Mixing and Segregation in Powders: Evaluation, Mechanisms and Processes
Mixing in powders generally results from relative motion of groups of particles – convective mixing – or of individuals – diffusive mixing. Segregation or demixing occurs when the motion of individual particles

Micromixing with spark-generated cavitation bubbles
The intrinsic laminarity of microfluidic devices impedes the mixing of multiple fluids over short temporal or spatial scales. Despite the existence of several mixers capable of stirring and stretching the flows to promote mixing, most approaches ...
