The effect of particle size on the dynamics of self-electrophoretic Janus micromotors, sputtering distribution, and rectifying voltage

open access: yesJCIS Open, 2022
Micromotors have gained increasing attention in last two decades, due to their controllable self-propulsion maneuverability at micro scales. However, the effect of particle size on micromotors is still vague and interwoven due to the micromotors’ size ...

Cyclodextrin‐Functionalized Light‐Driven Cu2O Micromotors for Simultaneous Capture and Degradation of Bisphenol A

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Fuel‐free Cu2O‐based micromotors functionalized with β‐cyclodextrin actively remove bisphenol A from water under visible light. The cyclodextrin shell captures BPA and enhances micromotor motility, leading to faster degradation and higher overall removal than nonfunctionalized Cu2O and Cu2O@Au.

Thermometric Based‐Microswimmers with Chemical and Optical Engines

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Temperature sensing at small scales is typically performed using passive luminescent particles. Here, an alternative approach is demonstrated by integrating upconversion thermometry into self‐propelled microswimmers powered by chemical fuels or light. This strategy offers a step toward dynamic thermal sensing at the microscale, relevant to both lab‐on ...

An electrostatic micromotor based on electrets

open access: yesIET Nanodielectrics, 2023
The authors report a novel electret‐based miniature electrostatic motor with an electret film as the stator and a metal electrode as the rotor. A particular commutator is used to transform the polarity of the metal electrode.

Routing Optimization of Cable‐Driven Octopus‐Inspired Manipulators With Minimal Actuation via Genetic Algorithm and Finite Element Method

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Soft robotic arms are promising for gentle grasping but often rely on bulky actuation systems. This work presents a computational design framework that optimizes tendon number and routing to achieve target grasps with fewer actuators. Validated on an octopus‐inspired underwater arm, the approach enables efficient, underactuated soft manipulators for ...
