2‐line Ferrihydrite Enhance Microbial Synthesis of Plant Biostimulants in Composted Biosolid by Regulating Phyla Pseudomonadota and Actinomycetota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores how iron and manganese oxides transform sewage sludge into plant biostimulants during composting. Non‐targeted identification reveals the main species of plant biostimulants. Metagenomic analysis reveals that 2‐line ferrihydrite specifically enriches microbial genes for biosynthesis, boosting plant‐growth promoters.

Risk Factors for Vitamin D, Zinc, and Selenium Deficiencies in Korean Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2017
Background/AimsStudies on the micronutrient status of Asian patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are scarce. We evaluated the prevalence of micronutrient deficiency and verified the risk factors for micronutrient deficiency in Korean patients ...

Micronutrient Deficiencies in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy [PDF]

open access: yesNutrients, 2020
The purpose of this study was to conduct a literature review to examine micronutrient deficiencies in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. We conducted a literature review using PubMed and Cochrane databases to examine micronutrient deficiencies in SG patients in order to identify trends and find consistency in recommendations.

Effectiveness of Multivitamins vs Folic Acid on Prevention of Neural Tube Defects in Mouse Genetic Models and Human Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Folic acid (FA) and multivitamins/minerals (MVM) are recommended for the prevention of neural tube defects (NTDs). Using a novel human neural tube‐like organoid system and mouse models, the study compares the effectiveness of two supplements on NTDs and cellular behaviors.

Immunobiology of mild micronutrient deficiencies [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Nutrition, 2001
Nutrition is a critical determinant of the outcome of host microbe interactions through a modulation of the immune response. Besides macronutrient malnutrition, deficiencies of several macronutrients also influence immune homeostasis and thus affect infection-related morbidity and mortality.

CsdA‐LaeB Regulatory Hub Contributes to Aspergillus fumigatus Virulence via Fumiquinazoline C Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a conserved CsdA‐LaeB hub in Aspergillus fumigatus that regulates secondary metabolite fumiquinazoline C (FqC). Disrupting this hub enhances FqC production and virulence, shedding new light on the post‐transcriptional regulatory logic linking secondary metabolism to pathogenicity and offering alternative strategies for diagnostic ...

Micronutrient Deficiency Independently Predicts Time to Event in Patients With Heart Failure

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2018
Background Dietary micronutrient deficiencies have been shown to predict event‐free survival in other countries but have not been examined in patients with heart failure living in the United States.

Creating Cell‐Based Hybrid Noodles for Sustainable and Nutrient‐Balanced Diets via a Serum‐Free and Animal‐Free 3D Co‐Differentiation System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a 3D co‐culture and co‐differentiation system for porcine muscle stem cells (pMuSCs) and mesenchymal stem cells (pMSCs) on edible starch‐based scaffolds. The system simultaneously generates myotubes and adipocytes without using serum or chemical inducers.
