Position and Trajectory Learning for Microphone Arrays

IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, 2007
In this paper, we tackle the problem of source localization by example. We present a methodology that allows a user to train a microphone array system using signals from a set of positions and trajectories and subsequently recall the localization information when presented with new input signals.

Microphone array apparatus

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002
A microphone array apparatus includes a microphone array including microphones, one of the microphones being a reference microphone, filters receiving output signals of the microphones, and a filter coefficient calculator which receives the output signals of the microphones, a noise and a residual signal obtained by subtracting filtered output signals ...

Dereverberation with Differential Microphone Arrays and the Weighted-Prediction-Error Method

International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement, 2018
Reverberation is one of the most detrimental effects on the quality and performance of hands-free speech communication and human-machine interfaces. Among different approaches investigated in the literature, the weighted-prediction-error (WPE) method has

Microphone Array Principles

2017
Microphone array (MA) involves several microphones positioned at diverse spatial locations. According to the sound propagation fundamentals, the multiple inputs can be handled to attenuate or to enhance the stemming signals from specific directions (desired signal) in the presence of demeaning noise sources (Levy et al.

Array optimization applied in the near field of a microphone array

IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing, 2000
This paper describes the application of array optimization techniques in the near-field of a microphone array. It is shown that the optimum weights obtained for microphone spacing equal to a half wavelength are real, aside from the propagation delay, and inversely proportional to the distance from each microphone to the focal point. When the microphone

Optimal positioning of sensors for a microphone array

Proceedings of ICASSP '94. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
Sensor positioning has an important influence on the performance of array processing. The main contributions of the paper are the proposal of criteria to evaluate and to optimize the performance of an array of sensors through its geometric configuration, the number and the positions of the sensors.

Microphone array system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2004
A microphone array system includes a plurality of microphones and a sound signal processing part. The microphones are arranged in such a manner that at least three microphones are arranged in a first direction to form a microphone row, at least three rows of the microphones are arranged so that the microphone rows are not crossed each other so as to ...

Adaptive microphone array

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997
The present invention is directed to a method of apparatus of enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio of a microphone array. The array includes a plurality of microphones and has a directivity pattern which is adjustable based on one or more parameters. The parameters are evaluated so as to realize an angular orientation of a directivity pattern null. This
