Formation of diffractive microrelief on diamond film surface

Optics & Laser Technology, 2007
Abstract The fabrication of diamond-based optical elements for high-power CO2 lasers is of particular interest because of low optical absorption, high thermal conductivity and weak temperature dependence of the refractive index of diamond. In earlier publications, we presented the results of the implementation of ion-chemical etching technology for ...

Microrelief suppresses large wrinkling appearance: an in silico study

Skin Research and Technology, 2014
Background and purposeExtensive skin wrinkling during facial expressions is one of the considerable problems in aesthetic dermatology. Although a few in silico studies have been performed with the aim of revealing the mechanism of a wrinkled appearance, there have been few studies that take into account the influence of skin roughness (i.e. microrelief)

Microrelief on ion-bombarded crystals and induced damage

Radiation Effects, 1970
Abstract Two types of bombardment experiments were performed. A first series on metallic spheres, examined by replicas, and a second series on thinned crystals, examined by transmission electron microscopy. The observations lead us to propose a model for the formation of the surface microrelief.

Do Fossorial Rodents Originate Mima-Type Microrelief?

American Midland Naturalist, 1958
Dense clusters of small circular mounds or soil pimples are widely scattered on the treeless regions of western United States (Fig. 1). To a climax example of the mounds rising to a height of seven feet on Mima Prairie, Thurston County, Washington, Dalquest and Scheffer (1942) gave the name "Mima mounds." The origin of the mounds was laid to pocket ...

Infrared optical components based on a microrelief structure

Optical Engineering, 1994
Several diffractive optical elements that operate in the infrared are presented. The microrelief structure is either a V-groove or binary lamellar and the features are of the size of one wavelength or below. The applications of these elements are beam deflectors, beamsplitters, beam attenuators, and polarizers.

Photoelectric Properties of Microrelief Organic/Inorganic Semiconductor Heterojunctions

2009
The effect of texturing interface on optical and photoelectric properties of organic/inorganic semiconductor heterostructures, based on n-GaAs, has been investigated both for anisotype (with pentacene or lead phthalocyanine) and isotype (with methyl perylene pigment) junctions.

Microrelief changes in chronically sun-exposed human skin.

Photo-dermatology, 1988
The effects of solar exposure on the microtopography of the human skin can be followed, in vivo, by comparing 2 nearby areas, protected and non-protected, of the arm. This has been possible in the case of professional cyclists, whose short-sleeved outerwear provides a clear demarcation of the 2 zones. The microrelief was measured from negative replicas
