Strings and Branes under Microscope
It is shown that in the standard vacuum 5D Kaluza-Klein gravity there is wormhole-like solutions which look like strings attached to two D-branes. The asymptotical behaviour of the corresponding metric is investigated.Comment: comparison with known ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Impact of minimally invasive root canal treatment on healing outcomes in a randomized clinical trial
Minimally invasive endodontic treatment has been an important topic of discussion in recent years, particularly in endodontics. This randomized prospective clinical trial aimed to assess outcomes after at least 2 years following two distinct root canal ...

Continuous Feature-Based Tracking of the Inner Ear for Robot-Assisted Microsurgery
Robotic systems for surgery of the inner ear must enable highly precise movement in relation to the patient. To allow for a suitable collaboration between surgeon and robot, these systems should not interrupt the surgical workflow and integrate well in ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Three-Dimensional Imaging in Stem Cell-Based Researches
Stem cells have an important role in regenerative therapies, developmental biology studies and drug screening. Basic and translational research in stem cell technology needs more detailed imaging techniques.

At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Black Hole Lattices Under the Microscope
It is known how to choose initial data for Einstein's equations describing an arbitrary number of black holes at a moment of time symmetry. This idea has been used to give insight into the cosmological averaging problem.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
