Propylthiouracil-Induced Microscopic Polyangiitis
JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, 2001The use of propylthiouracil (PTU) has been associated with various forms of vasculitis. We herein describe the case of a patient with Grave's disease who, after years of PTU therapy, developed a necrotizing vasculitis with anti-serine protease-3 antibodies.

Microscopic polyangiitis: Clinical presentation
Autoimmunity Reviews, 2010Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a member of the family of ANCA-associated vasculitides. Its characteristic histology shows a necrotizing small vessel vasculitis with little or absent immune deposits (pauci-immune vasculitis). In Western countries MPA shows a lower prevalence than Wegener's disease, it affects more men than women and commences at the ...

Microscopic polyangiitis is a systemic necrotizing vasculitis affecting small vessels, without granulomata. Patients present with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis, often associated with cutaneous, musculoskeletal, neurological or gastrointestinal involvement. Antineutrophilcytoplasmic antibodies are frequently found, most often with a perinuclear

Microscopic polyangiitis (microscopic polyarteritis).
Seminars in diagnostic pathology, 2001Microscopic polyangiitis ("microscopic polyarteritis") is a form of necrotizing small vessel vasculitis that most often affects venules, capillaries, arterioles, and small arteries, although it occasionally involves medium-sized arteries. Microscopic polyangiitis is a more appropriate name than microscopic polyarteritis because some patients have no ...
