Cytogenetical Studies in Two Tetraploid Mulberry Varieties (Moraceae) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Morus L. an economically important genus has more than 60 species distributed in both the Hemispheres. Chromosome number varies from 2n=28 to 2n=308 with ploidy level from x to 22x.

Microsporogenesis in hexaploid Morus serrata Roxb.

open access: yesCYTOLOGIA, 1989
Detailed microsporogenesis of hexaploid Morus serrata has been studied. This is the first record of natural hexaploidy (2n=6x=84) in the species. Meiosis has been found regular with high frequency of bivalents. The frequency of hexa-, penta-, tetra- and trivalents is considerably less suggesting its allopolyploid nature.

Synteny analysis in Rosids with a walnut physical map reveals slow genome evolution in long-lived woody perennials. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundMutations often accompany DNA replication. Since there may be fewer cell cycles per year in the germlines of long-lived than short-lived angiosperms, the genomes of long-lived angiosperms may be diverging more slowly than those of short-lived ...

Cold influences male reproductive development in plants : a hazard to fertility, but a window for evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Being sessile organisms, plants suffer from various abiotic stresses including low temperature. In particular, male reproductive development of plants is extremely sensitive to cold which may dramatically reduce viable pollen shed and plant fertility ...
