Exploration of Water‐Saving and High‐Yield Irrigation Model for Tomato under Microsprinkler Irrigation with Plastic Film in a Greenhouse Based on Spatial Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The purpose of this study was to analyse the suitability of the frequency and amount of microsprinkler irrigation under plastic film technology (MSPF) in a greenhouse. This study was aimed at determining the effects of different irrigation frequency and irrigation amount of the MSPF on the quality, yield (Y), and water use efficiency (WUE) of tomato ...

Prospects of Hydrogels in Agriculture for Enhancing Crop and Water Productivity under Water Deficit Condition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
In arid and semiarid regions and under rainfed conditions, water availability is one of the principal ecological constraints that hinder agriculture’s sustainability. The super absorbent polymer (agricultural) is water‐absorbing and is cross‐linked to absorb aqueous solutions through bonding with water molecules.

Pipeline Optimization for an Economical Microsprinkler Irrigation System Based on a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
The pipeline combination scheme is optimized to reduce the cost of irrigation units in an economical microsprinkler system. With the standard number of segments of branch and capillary pipes as the decision variables, the lowest pipe cost per unit irrigation area as the objective function, the maximum pressure difference allowed in the system, the ...

Split application of nutrients improve growth and yield of Huanglongbing‐affected citrus trees

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 85, Issue 6, Page 2040-2053, November/December 2021., 2021
Abstract Citrus production in Florida declined steadily because of Huanglongbing (i.e., HLB, citrus greening) caused by the bacteria Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus. The objectives of the study were to determine whether leaf tissue nutrient concentration, tree growth, fruit yield, and juice content were improved with split applications of essential ...

Is Food Irrigated with Oilfield‐Produced Water in the California Central Valley Safe to Eat? A Probabilistic Human Health Risk Assessment Evaluating Trace Metals Exposure

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 41, Issue 8, Page 1463-1477, August 2021., 2021
Abstract Reuse of oilfield‐produced water (OPW) for crop irrigation has the potential to make a critical difference in the water budgets of highly productive but drought‐stressed agricultural watersheds. This is the first peer‐reviewed study to evaluate how trace metals in OPW used to irrigate California crops may affect human health.

Plant Growth and Physiological Responses to Improved Irrigation and Fertilization Management for Young Peach Trees in the Southeastern United States

open access: yesHortScience, 2021
New peach orchards in the southeastern United States are often not irrigated until 3 or 4 years after planting. During those years, the only water comes from rainfall. Droughts in the region are becoming more common, making irrigation more important.

Analysis of application uniformity coefficient of the microsprinklers

open access: yes, 2022
The aim of this study was to analyze water application uniformity and wetness pattern of microsprinklers DAN 2001 and DAN 2002 according to ABNT NBR (2004). The test was conducted in Paulista State University, campus of Jaboticabal, SP. The test time was 1 hour under a constant pressure of 250 kPa and total absence of wind, with 3 replications.
