A transition of microstrip line to dielectric microstrip line for millimeter wave circuits

2013 IEEE International Wireless Symposium (IWS), 2013
A compact microstrip line to dielectric microstrip line (DML) transition is investigated, where DML is a dielectric waveguide that has quasi-planar structure line like conventional microstrip. DML is much more convenient to be used for various circuit constructions, comparing to other dielectric waveguides such as non-radiative dielectric guide and ...

Parameters of Microstrip Transmission Lines and of Coupled Pairs of Microstrip Lines

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1968
A theoretical analysis is presented of microwave propagation on microstrip, with particular reference to the case of coupled pairs of microstrip lines. Data on this type of transmission line are needed for the design of directional couplers, filters, and other components in microwave integrated circuits.

Microstrip-line-fed compact microstrip antenna with broadband operation

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1998 Digest. Antennas: Gateways to the Global Network. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.98CH36194), 2002
In order to meet the requirement for mobile or personal communication systems, microstrip antennas with reduced size and broadband operation are of particular interest. Among the various feeding mechanisms, the compact broadband microstrip antennas directly matched to a 50-/spl Omega/ microstrip line are also of importance, for its usefulness in ...

Losses of Microstrip Lines

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1980
This article summarizes state-of-the-art information on losses of single and coupled microstrip lines. Conductor loss, substrate loss (for pure dielectric or magnetic materials), and radiation loss are considered along with the effect of dispersion. Finally, a rough comparison is made between the losses of microstrip and that of several other types of ...

Microstrip Comb Line Filters

1975 5th European Microwave Conference, 1975
The known design procedures for comb line filters are applicable only to filters using TEM-mode transmission line systems. Synthesis procedures for comb line filters using coupled microstrip transmission lines must take into account the unequality of the phase velocities of the fundamental modes on such a system. Such a method is presented.

A Microstrip Line Stretcher

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1970
A simple and inexpensive microstrip transmission line of adjustable length is described. The device, although physically considerably smaller, is electrically similar to the usual coaxial line stretcher and can be fabricated easily from standard printed circuit or microstrip boards.

Characteristics of microstrip transmission lines

Journal of Electronics (China), 1990
An efficient hybrid field solution to microstrip transmission lines is presented by using SLE and SLM modes in spectral domain. It by-passes the lengthy process of formulating the determinant equation for the unknown propagation constant. Compared with spectral domain admittance approach, this method is clear in both physical and mathematical senses ...

Cylindrical Substrate Microstrip Line Characterization

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1987
In this article, quasi-static and dynamic solutions are derived for microstrip transmission lines on circularly symmetric cylindrical substrates. Novel numerical techniques have evolved which lead to very efficient algorithms. The model is applicable to substrates of arbitrary thickness and cylinder size.

Tunable fin‐line—microstrip oscillator

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1994
AbstractThe frequency of a microstrip oscillator is difficult to tune. A new millimeter‐wave microstrip Gunn oscillator is introduced in this Letter. Consisting of fin line and microstrip with microstrip as the output‐port transmission line, this Gunn oscillator can be mechanically frequency tuned.
