Single-Sided Filters in Microstrip Technology

31st European Microwave Conference, 2001, 2001
This paper describes how to approach the design of microstrip filters with requirements in one passband and one stopband, both of finite extension (single-sided filters). Suitable filter topologies have been investigated, which allow having the filter passband either above or below the filter stopband.

Silicon microstrip detectors on 6″ technology

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1999
The fabrication of microstrip detectors on 4″ high-resistivity wafers that allow for a maximum workable area of about has been well established. Using 6″ wafers the workable area increases up to (more than twice the area of a 4″ wafer) allowing a larger number of detectors to be processed at the same time on the same wafer resulting in a sizable ...

Electromagnetic crystals in microstrip technology

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 2002
Recently, new promising periodic structures called photonic crystals (PCs), or more appropriately electromagnetic crystal (ECs), for the microwave and millimetre wave range, have been considered for both microwave and photonic applications. Planar microstrip waveguides are very attractive in microwave engineering and several innovative designs have ...

Rotman Lens in Microstrip Technology

22nd European Microwave Conference, 1992, 1992
A microwave lens of Rotman type, to be used in a broadband multibeam antenna, has been designed in microstrip technology. The method of analysis used, based on a ray approach, is briefly described and compared for a circular geometry with a, in some respect, rigorous method. The design of a Rotman lens with 15 beam ports and 15 antenna element ports is

Miniaturization of Microstrip Antennas for Applications in 4G Technology

EQUATIONS, 2021
This paper presents a new proposal of microstrip planar antennas designed for frequencies of 2.5 GHz and 700 MHz, with an improvement in bandwidth and miniaturization. Using the truncated ground plane, it is achieved a reduction of about 70% in size in both antennas.

Silicon microstrip detectors in 3D technology for the sLHC

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2009
The projected luminosity upgrade of the large hadron collider (LHC), the sLHC, will constitute a challenging radiation environment for tracking detectors. Massive improvements in radiation hardness are required with respect to the LHC. In the layout for the new ATLAS tracker, silicon strip detectors (SSDs) with short strips cover the region from 28 to ...

Dispersion of permittivity of technological dielectrics for microstrips

2013 International Symposium on Electrodynamic and Mechatronic Systems (SELM), 2013
We propose a technique of determination of permittivity I for undefined dielectric material as a substrate of microstrip line. The technique is in theoretical calculation of microstrip line spectrum and fitting the experimental results by varying the substrate permittivity.

Metamaterials in microstrip technology for filter applications

2005 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2005
In this work, backward (or left handed (LH)) transmission lines in microstrip technology are designed and fabricated. To this end, the line is periodically loaded with square shaped split ring resonators (SRR), etched in close proximity to the conductor strip, and via holes.

Predicting Cole-Cole parameters of microfluids with microstrip technology

2014 IEEE Sensors Applications Symposium (SAS), 2014
In this paper we present the novel design of a microstrip sensor to measure the broadband complex permittivity of small fluid samples and accurately predict their Cole-Cole parameters. This novel approach differs from prior works by placing the fluid analyte in an enclosed chamber underneath the trace of a suspended microstrip, allowing for better ...
