Improvement of electrochemical corrosion uniformity in AA2024 FSW joints by laser shock peening
This study systematically investigates the residual stress distribution, microstructural evolution, and corrosion behavior in friction stir welded AA2024 joints, focusing on the nugget zone (NZ), heat-affected zone (HAZ), thermo-mechanically affected ...

Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

3 GPa dual-phase stainless steel from synergistic heterogeneous structure and nano-precipitate
Grain refinement is the most common strategy to improve the mechanical performance of metals such as strength, wear resistance and fatigue. For the 2101 duplex stainless steel (DSS), a heterogeneous microstructure composed of sub-25 nm fiber grains and ...
