High-Tg TOPAS microstructured polymer optical fiber for fiber Bragg grating strain sensing at 110 degrees [PDF]
We present the fabrication and characterization of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) in an endlessly single-mode microstructured polymer optical fiber (mPOF) made of humidity-insensitive high-Tg TOPAS cyclic olefin copolymer.

Fiber design and realization of point-by-point written fiber Bragg gratings in polymer optical fibers [PDF]
An increasing interest in making sensors based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) written in polymer optical fibers (POFs) has been seen recently. Mostly microstructured POFs (mPOFs) have been chosen for this purpose because they are easier to fabricate ...

Refractive index sensing in an all-solid twin-core photonic bandgap fiber [PDF]
We describe a highly sensitive refractive index sensor based on a twin-core coupler in an all-solid photonic bandgap guiding optical fiber. A single hole acts as a microfluidic channel for the analyte, which modifies the coupling between the cores, and ...

Designing microstructured polymer optical fibers for cascaded quadratic soliton compression of femtosecond pulses [PDF]
The dispersion of index-guiding microstructured polymer optical fibers is calculated for second-harmonic generation. The quadratic nonlinearity is assumed to come from poling of the polymer, which in this study is chosen to be the cyclic olefin copolymer

Angle dependent Fiber Bragg grating inscription in microstructured polymer optical fibers
We report on an incidence angle influence on inscription of the Fiber Bragg Gratings in Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microstructured polymer optical fibers. We have shown experimentally that there is a strong preference of certain angles, labeled ГK, over the other ones.

Hybrid polymer photonic crystal fiber with integrated chalcogenide glass nanofilms [PDF]
The combination of chalcogenide glasses with polymer photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) is a difficult and challenging task due to their different thermo-mechanical material properties.

Fluorescence pH probe based on microstructured polymer optical fiber
A kind of optical pH sensor was demonstrated that is based on a pH-sensitive fluorescence dye-doped (eosin) cellulose acetate (CA) thin-film modified microstructured polymer optical fiber (MPOF). It was obtained by directly inhaling an eosin-CA-acetic acid mixed solution into array holes in a MPOF and then removing the solvent (acetic acid).

Wavelength dependent transmission in multimode graded-index microstructured polymer optical fibers
Up to now, there have been no commercial simulation tools accessible for researching the transmission properties of multimode microstructured optical fibers (MOFs). In order to avoid this problem, this study uses the time-independent power flow equation (

Label-free biosensing with high sensitivity in dual-core microstructured polymer optical fibers [PDF]
We present experimentally feasible designs of a dual-core microstructured polymer optical fiber (mPOF), which can act as a highly sensitive, label-free, and selective biosensor.
