Analyzing the compressive behavior of porous Ti6Al4V by X-ray microtomography [PDF]
Samples with 40% vol. of pores and a pore size distribution between 100 and 500 µm were produced by powder metallurgy from Ti6Al4V alloy powders. Sintering was performed at 1300 °C during one hour in an inert Argon atmosphere in a vertical dilatometer ...

Photoacoustic microtomography using optical interferometric detection
A device for three-dimensional (3-D) photoacoustic tomography with resolution in the range of tens of micrometers is presented that uses a light beam for interferometric detection of acoustic waves. Reconstruction of the 3-D initial pressure distribution from the signals representing line integrals of the acoustic field is a two-step process.

Phase-contrast microtomography of thin biomaterials
Phase-contrast microtomography, performed at the beamline ID 22 of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF, Grenoble, France), is demonstrated for high-resolution 3-D imaging of a hydroxyapatite sample. The technique, which relies on phase contrast imaging, gives the possibility to observe features inside samples with negligible absorption ...

The imaging of dynamic multiphase fluid flow using synchrotron-based x-ray microtomography at reservoir conditions [PDF]
Fast synchrotron-based X-ray microtomography was used to image the injection of super-critical CO2 under subsurface conditions into a brine-saturated carbonate sample at the pore-scale with a voxel size of 3.64μm and a temporal resolution of 45 s ...

Exploring Thermal and Mechanical Strains During Laying Down Process in Fused Filament Fabrication
This study analyzes strain evolution and thermal behavior during FFF of PLA using strain gauges and infrared imaging. Microstrain levels depend on printing conditions, with adhesion‐induced compression during cooling and peak strains in early layers. Microtomography shows minimal porosity, while thermal imaging reveals rapid heat penetration, strong ...

ABSTRACT The ancient practice of cremation has been documented across numerous cultures, yet burnt remains can indeed become a huge challenge for anthropologists, both in archaeological and in forensic contexts. The analysis of such skeletal material presents significant challenges associated with the alterations caused by the process of burning.
