Soil microstructure and electron microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes
As part of the process of comparing Martian soils with terrestial soils, high resolution electron microscopy and associated techniques should be used to examine the finer soil particles, and various techniques of electron and optical microscopy should be

Quantitative cell nuclear imaging by dual-view optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
An estimated ~250,000 new cases of both invasive and non-invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in US women almost every year. To reduce the local recurrence rate, the breast conserving surgery (BCS) is widely used as the initial therapy, which is to ...

Estudo morfoquantitativo do plexo submucoso (de Meissner) do jejuno-íleo de cobaias jovens e velhas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
OBJECTIVE: To study the aging of submucous plexus of the small intestine (jejunum-ileum) of the guinea pigs from the quantitative, structural and ultrastructural perspective. METHOD: Chemical preparations of membrane of the jejunum-ileum of old and young

Modified embedding procedure for microtomy of large particle zeolites

open access: yesJournal of Electron Microscopy Technique, 1990
AbstractA method is described to strengthen the binding of organic resin to inorganic zeolite, allowing large particles to be microtomed. For FeZSM‐5 aggregates the particle size limit increased from 3 μm to greater than 20 μm in diameter by application of this method.

Susceptibility of capsicum species and cultivars to ralstonia solanacearum: Anatomical differences and bacterial multiplication in resistant and susceptible cultivars [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Greenhouse evaluation of 42 accessions/cultivars of Capsicum spp. to bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum revealed that the Malaysian local cultivar 'Kulai' was highly resistant.

Characterization of 81P/Wild 2 Particles C2067,1,111,6.0 and C2067,1,111,8.0 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The concentrations of C and N in cometary particles are of interest in characterizing the regions where comets formed. One aim of this work is to analyze enough Stardust particles to draw meaningful statistical conclusions about their inventories of C ...

Microscopic and ultrastructural evaluation of the saphenous vein endothelium for CABG prepared by the no touch technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
OBJECTIVE: Saphenous vein grafts (SV) used in coronary artery bypass grafting have a limited life and vein occlusion may be the final adverse effect. Efforts to develop new techniques to harvest the saphenous vein may improve the viability of the graft ...

Low Speed Microtomy for the Electron Microscope

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1949
The beam of a 50-kv electron microscope does not penetrate specimens that are thicker than 0.1 μ. Thus, in order to study biological specimens with this type of microscope we have further developed the technic described by Pease and Baker,1 who altered a Spencer Rotary Microtome (model 820) by adding a wedge to the mechanism for forward movement.
