Photoacoustic microscopy enables multilayered histological imaging of human breast cancer without staining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In 2016, an estimated ~250,000 new cases of invasive and non-invasive breast cancer were diagnosed in US women. About 60–75% of these cases were treated with breast conserving surgery (BCS) as the initial therapy. To reduce the local recurrence rate, the

GGR Handbook of Rock and Mineral Analysis Chapter 16 Nano‐Imaging for Advanced X‐Ray Fluorescence and Absorption Spectroscopy Applications

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 495-533, September 2025.
Key Points Synchrotron nano‐imaging is necessary to locate elemental nanophases. Trace metal quantification requires high sensitivity nano‐XRF. Trace metal speciation relies on nano‐XANES using nano‐XRF. This chapter (Nano‐Imaging for Advanced X‐ray Fluorescence and Absorption Spectroscopy Applications) is a contribution to the Geostandards and ...

Structure, Mechanics, and Mechanobiology of Fibrocartilage Pericellular Matrix Mediated by Type V Collagen

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 32, August 28, 2025.
This study defines the structure, mechanics, and mechanobiology of the fibrocartilage pericellular matrix (PCM) using the murine meniscus, showing how collagen V deficiency alters PCM properties and disrupts cell mechanosensitive signaling. Findings emphasize the critical role of PCM in fibrocartilage mechanobiology and suggest targeting it can enhance

Effects of Tissucol™ and epsilon aminocaproic acid in the healing process following dental extraction in dehydrated rats Efeitos do Tissucol® e do ácido épsilon aminocapróico no processo de reparo alveolar em ratos desidratados

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2006
A histological study was conducted of the alveolar bone healing process following tooth extraction of dehydrated rats after the implantation of fibrin adhesive (TISSUCOL™) associated to previous irrigation of the wound with a 5% epsilon aminocaproic

Detection of Human Prion Seeding Activity in Formalin‐Fixed Paraffin‐Embedded Archival Tissues

open access: yesNeuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, Volume 51, Issue 4, August 2025.
The RT‐QuIC assay showed high sensitivity and specificity in detecting prion seeding activity in archival FFPE brain tissues, comparable to results obtained from frozen samples. Notably, prion activity remained detectable in FFPE tissues even after long‐term storage.
