A literature review of analytical techniques for materials characterisation of painted textiles - Part 1: categorising painted textiles, sampling and the use of optical tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Many types of painted textile are represented in museum collections. Their flexibility, draping qualities, and heterogeneous, layered nature make painted textiles complex objects to conserve. What do we know about their materials and making?

Carbon‐Coated Urchin‐Like Silica Nanospheres for Enhanced Photothermal Catalysis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 12, June 17, 2025.
An advanced catalytic architecture based on carbon‐coated, urchin‐like silica nanospheres decorated with Ru nanoparticles is presented. This composite optimizes light absorption and heat retention, significantly enhancing NH3 decomposition and CO2 hydrogenation via synergistic thermal and photoinduced effects, as evidenced by photocurrent and time ...

Histological Analyses And Detection Of Azadirachtin From In Vitro Cultures Of Sentang (Azadirachta Excelsa (Jack) Jacobs) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The growth profiles of calli and suspension cultures from leaf segments of in vitro grown Azadirachta excelsa shoots were studied to establish plant regeneration system and to quantitatively detect the presence of azadirachtin in suspension cultures ...

Influence of Three Combinations of Cryoprotectants and Two Warming Temperatures on Cellular Morphology, Morphometry and Mitochondrial Activity of Vitrified Canine Testicles

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 60, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT High concentrations of cryoprotectants required for testicular vitrification result in a toxic environment for cells. To mitigate this issue, a suitable alternative is to combine cryoprotectants. The temperature for warming a vitrified sample is also important to assure cell viability.

斜齿轮齿面剥落故障动力学建模与动态特征研究

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2014
Due to the moving loads and complex spatial structure characteristics of helical gears,it is difficult to acquire and diagnose the vibration characteristics of the helical gear with spalling defect.

Divergence of vessel diameter explains interspecific variation in hydraulic safety to salinity in the Sundarbans mangrove ecosystem

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 876-896, March 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Despite their crucial role in providing ecosystem services and livelihood support in 124 countries, mangroves are facing challenges from warming, altered seasonal precipitation and sea level rise (SLR) in the face of climate change. Variation in intra‐ and interspecific

Low Speed Microtomy for the Electron Microscope

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1949
The beam of a 50-kv electron microscope does not penetrate specimens that are thicker than 0.1 μ. Thus, in order to study biological specimens with this type of microscope we have further developed the technic described by Pease and Baker,1 who altered a Spencer Rotary Microtome (model 820) by adding a wedge to the mechanism for forward movement.
