Multiband Comparative Study of Optical Microvariability in RL vs. RQ Quasars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present the results of an optical multi-band (BVR) photometric monitoring program of 22 core-dominated radio-loud quasars (CRLQs) and 22 radio-quiet quasars (RQQs). The aim was to compare the properties of microvariability in both types of quasars. We

Microvariability in Seyfert Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2003
We present the results of a search for microvariability in a sample of eight Seyfert galaxies. Microvariability (i.e., variations occurring on timescales of tens of minutes to hours) has been conclusively demonstrated to exist in the class of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) known as blazars. Its existence in other classes of AGNs is far less certain.

Variation in differential object marking: On some differences between Spanish and Romanian

open access: yesOpen Linguistics, 2020
Although differential object marking (DOM) has been studied from a multitude of perspectives, research into the types of variation it allows in closely related languages is still needed.

Dative Microvariation in African Varieties of Portuguese

open access: yesJournal of Portuguese Linguistics, 2022
In this paper we compare dative ditransitive structures in nativized and nativizing urban varieties of Portuguese spoken in Angola, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe, using a corpus-based approach. It is shown that the expression

Micro-variation in subject realization and interpretation: an introduction

open access: yesGlossa, 2021
In this introduction to the Special Collection of the same title, we start out by discussing some key issues addressed by recent research on micro-variation in subject realization and interpretation in anaphoric contexts (Section 1).

The Microvariable Activity of BL Lacertae [PDF]

open access: yesGalaxies, 2020
We report on seven nights of optical observation taken over a two-week period, and the resultant analysis of the intermediate-frequency peaked BL Lac object (IBL), BL Lac itself, at redshift z = 0.069. The microvariable behavior can be confirmed over the course of minutes for each night.

Intranight optical variability of radio-quiet BL Lacertae objects

open access: yes, 2015
Aims: Intranight variation (or microvariation) is a common phenomenon of radio-loud BL Lac objects. However, it is not clear whether the recently found radio-quiet BL Lac objects have the same properties.
