Efficient enhancements in spectral domain method to speed up open planar circuit analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The spectral domain method is a very fast and powerful technique to analyse planar microwave circuits. Available techniques for simulating the excitation of open planar microwave circuits are not very effective at relatively low frequencies.

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Differentially-Fed, Wideband Dual-Polarized Filtering Antenna With Novel Feeding Structure for 5G Sub-6 GHz Base Station Applications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, a differentially fed, wideband dual-polarized patch antenna with filtering response is proposed. A novel E-shaped feeding structure with one end shorted to the ground is proposed to excite a square patch antenna, and an extra resonant mode

GUI design exploration software for microwave antennas [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational Design and Engineering, 2017
Abstract Optimizers in commercial electromagnetic (EM) simulation software packages are the main tools for performing antenna design exploration today. However, these general purpose optimizers are facing challenges in optimization efficiency, supported optimization types and usability for antenna experts without deep knowledge on ...

Ultrasmall High‐Entropy Materials: Nanoscale Effects, Synthesis, and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review article focuses on sub‐10 nm high‐entropy materials that combine nanoscale design with complex compositions for next‐generation applications. ABSTRACT Ultrasmall high‐entropy nanomaterials (USHENMs, <10 nm) merge multicomponent chemistry with size‐dependent effects, forming a distinct class of materials with unprecedented properties.

Design of a Planar Transmission Line Balun Based on Novel Phase Inverter

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper, a planar ultrawideband (UWB) transmission line balun based on a novel phase inverter is proposed, which consists of three coaxial connector to double-sided parallel-strip line (DSPSL) transitions, a two-section Wilkinson divider, and a ...

VHF/UHF Miniaturized Ferrite-EBG Composited Choke Structures

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Parasitic currents on the sheaths of the coaxial cables will deteriorate the performance of the antenna, so the choke structures are needed. While a-quarter-wavelength choke sheaths at VHF and UHF are very long, miniaturized ferrite-EBG composited choke ...

Coagulative Granular Hydrogels with an Enzyme Catalyzed Fibrin Network for Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Coagulative granular hydrogels are composed of packed thrombin‐functionalized microgels that catalyze the conversion of fibrinogen into a secondary fibrin network, filling the interstitial voids. This bio‐inspired approach stabilizes the biomaterial to match the robustness of bulk hydrogels without compromising injectability, mimicking the initial ...

CAD of Stacked Patch Antennas Through Multipurpose Admittance Matrices From FEM and Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2008
In this work, a novel computer-aided design methodology for probe-fed, cavity-backed, stacked microstrip patch antennas is proposed. The methodology incorporates the rigor of a numerical technique, such as finite element methods, which, in turn, makes ...

Interstitial microwave antennas for thermal therapy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hyperthermia, 1987
This paper presents a new microwave antenna design with improved heating at the tip for interstitial hyperthermia and thermocoagulation. Temperature distribution patterns surrounding a conventional insulated antenna and the new sleeved coaxial slot radiator are measured in a saline phantom under transient and steady-state conditions.
