Analysis of observation characteristic of FY-3 microwave hygrometer during an extreme short-term heavy precipitation process

open access: yes暴雨灾害, 2020
Based on data of FY-3 satellite microwave hygrometer and conventional observation, microwave observational characteristics of convective clouds during a heavy precipitation event from Giuzhou to Hubei province in 2016 were analyzed. The results show that

Downscaling microwave brightness temperatures using self regularized regressive models [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2015
A novel algorithm is proposed to downscale microwave brightness temperatures ($\mathrm{T_B}$), at scales of 10-40 km such as those from the Soil Moisture Active Passive mission to a resolution meaningful for hydrological and agricultural applications. This algorithm, called Self-Regularized Regressive Models (SRRM), uses auxiliary variables correlated ...

The microwave brightness temperature spectrum of the quiet sun

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1991
New measurements of the microwave brightness temperature spectrum of the center of the quiet sun, acquired at Owens Valley over several months during the 1986-1987 sunspot minimum, are reported. The resulting brightness temperature spectra are consistent with previous data, but exhibit much less frequency-to-frequency scatter. The corona is fitted well

Temporal variations of microwave brightness temperatures over Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 1994
Passive microwave brightness temperatures from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSMI) are studied together with surface air temperatures from two Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) for the year 1989. One station is located on the East Antarctic plateau (Dome C) and the other on the Ross lee Shelf (Lettau). The satellite data for frequencies 19, 22 and

Evidence of an increase in the microwave brightness temperature of Uranus

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1978
Measurements are reported which indicate that the microwave brightness temperature of Uranus near 3 cm wavelength has increased by about 35% in the past decade. It is suggested that changes of this magnitude could be caused by seasonal or latitudinal variations of the microwave opacity of the Uranus atmosphere.

Coupled land surface and radiative transfer models for the analysis of passive microwave satellite observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Soil moisture is one of the key variables controlling the water and energy exchanges between Earth’s surface and the atmosphere. Therefore, remote sensing based soil moisture information has potential applications in many disciplines.

Modeling time series of microwave brightness temperature in Antarctica [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 2009
AbstractThis paper aims to interpret the temporal variations of microwave brightness temperature (at 19 and 37GHz and at vertical and horizontal polarizations) in Antarctica using a physically based snow dynamic and emission model (SDEM). SDEM predicts time series of top-of-atmosphere brightness temperature from widely available surface meteorological ...
