Review of Organic Persistent Phosphors: Classifications by Material Forms, Applications, and Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 4, 27 January 2026.
Persistent luminescence (PersL), or afterglow, is the phenomenon of light emission that continues long after the excitation source is removed. This review systematically covers the historical development and major material forms of organic PersL materials, detailing their operating principles, mechanisms, and typical applications.

Phase Smoothing for Mutual Coupling Mitigation in Multifunctional Metasurfaces Designed with Diffractive Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 1, 9 January 2026.
A diffractive neural networkdesigned metasurface operating at 86 GHz generates multiple holographic patterns by controlling the phase of subwavelength unit cells. A phase‐smoothing regularization mitigates mutual coupling, enabling accurate multifunctional wavefront shaping.

Stacked Time‐Varying Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 4, 27 January 2026.
Stacked, spatially uniform, time‐modulated metasurfaces replace cumbersome in‐plane modulation. A general design framework optimizes independently programmed temporal functions across cylindrical meta‐atom arrays with time‐varying plasma/collision frequencies, yielding magnet‐free isolation at the carrier and a temporal circulator analogue.

Ionic Density‐Controlled Conjugated Polyelectrolytes for Interface Engineering in Inverted Colloidal PbS Quantum‐Dots Infrared Photodetector

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 2, 14 January 2026.
This study demonstrates that conjugated polyelectrolytes with tunable ionic density can act as effective interfacial layers in inverted PbS quantum dot photodiodes. By enhancing dipole orientation and defect passivation at the ITO/QD interface, the devices exhibit suppressed dark current, improved photocurrent, and a record near‐infrared detectivity of

Enhanced THz Emission and Exciton Transfer in Monolayer MoS2/GaAs Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study demonstrates enhanced terahertz (THz) emission from a hybrid structure combining monolayer MoS2 with low‐temperature‐grown GaAs. The mixed‐dimensional van der Waals heterostructure shows a 15% increase in THz output and improved optical conductivity, driven by efficient exciton transfer and nonlinear optical effects, offering a new route for
