Microwave characterization of graphene films for sensor applications

Graphene is a monolayer of carbon atoms with remarkable electronic and mechanical properties amenable to sensor applications. While the plasmonic nature of graphene at terahertz frequency has been widely reported, investigations on the practical utility of graphene at the microwave frequencies used in wireless sensor nodes are sparse.

Development of microwave gas sensors

Microwave Saw Humidity Sensor

In this paper the microwave humidity sensor has been presented. In the device the surface acoustic waves (SAW) resonator with nafion coating was used. The sensor exhibits good sensitivity and linearity as well as the resistance to active chemical compounds.

New type of microwave position sensors

In this paper a new type of microwave position sensor is introduced. It is an angular microstrip sensor based on a slot etched in the ground plane. It is a microstrip stub resonator with slow-wave effect induced by the slot. Covering the slot decreases slow-wave effect and increases resonant frequency.

Microwave ferrite acceleration sensors

This paper presents a new and potentially simple method of producing a frequency shift proportional to sensed acceleration in a passive microwave device. Magnetostriction effects in microwave ferrite rods are employed to convert an applied stress (acceleration) to a shift in resonant frequency.
