Malignant Middle Cerebral Artery Infarction Resulting from Dissection of Middle Cerebral Artery
Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2015A 30-year-old man presented with headache, left hemiparesis, and uncal herniation. Magnetic resonance imaging showed acute infarction in the right middle cerebral artery (MCA). Lifesaving craniotomy proceeded because of the uncal herniation. Assessment of brain tissue led to a diagnosis of MCA dissection.

Malignant middle cerebral artery infarction
Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2012This review will report on the new aspects of management of 'malignant' middle cerebral artery (MCA) infarctions.Large MCA infarctions have been associated with high death rates for years. The most reliable predictors of a 'malignant' course are hypodensity in more than 50% of the MCA territory on computed tomography as well as stroke volume greater ...

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2009
Most recent studies on the effectiveness of cerebral revascularization have focused on the treatment of atherosclerotic internal carotid artery occlusive disease. The goal of the present study was to assess neurological function in 11 severe atherosclerotic middle cerebral artery (MCA) disease patients with transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and ...

Fenestration of the middle cerebral artery
Neuroradiology, 1977Three cases of angiographically demonstrated fenestration of the middle cerebral artery are reported. The incidence of demonstration of fenestration of the middle cerebral artery by angiography is 0.26%. Its clinical significance is discussed briefly.

Middle cerebral artery dissection
Neurology, 1995We present a case report of a 17-year-old young man who developed fatal dissection of the middle cerebral artery after what appeared to be trivial trauma. The dissection was not evident on cerebral arteriogram but was identified at autopsy. Arterial dissection should be considered in the differential diagnosis of supraclinoid occlusion of the internal ...

Ruptured aneurysm at a duplicated middle cerebral artery with accessory middle cerebral artery
Acta Neurochirurgica, 2004Although many cerebral vascular anomalies are widely recognized, others are less well known or unclassified. Accessory middle cerebral artery (MCA) and duplicated MCA are among uncommon anomalies. We present a very rare case of subarachnoid haemorrhage due to rupture of a saccular aneurysm arising from a duplicated middle cerebral artery which was ...

Bilateral duplicated middle cerebral arteries
Neurological SciencesBilateral identical duplications of the middle cerebral artery are extremely rare. We report this anatomical variation in a 56-year-old woman. The anatomical variation was identified using magnetic resonance angiography, which was performed to evaluate cerebrovascular disease. Bilaterally, one middle cerebral artery originated from the internal carotid

Proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulating middle cerebral artery occlusion
Neurology, 1991We describe 12 cases of acute stroke in which clinical features of proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulated the clinical syndrome of middle cerebral artery occlusion. The majority of patients developed contralateral hemiparesis, homonymous hemianopia, hemispatial neglect, and sensory loss or sensory inattention.
