Abstract Epilepsy syndromes during the early years of life may be attributed to an acquired insult, such as hypoxic–ischemic injury, infection, status epilepticus, or brain trauma. These conditions are frequently modeled in experimental rodents to delineate mechanisms of epileptogenesis and investigate novel therapeutic strategies.

Minor stroke due to large artery occlusion. When is intravenous thrombolysis not enough? Results from the SITS International Stroke Thrombolysis Register [PDF]
Purpose: Beyond intravenous thrombolysis, evidence is lacking on acute treatment of minor stroke caused by large artery occlusion. To identify candidates for additional endovascular therapy, we aimed to determine the frequency of non-haemorrhagic ...

Compound porcine perebroside and ganglioside injection (CPCGI) was used to treat ischemic stroke. However, there was no clinical evidence of low‐dose CPCGI. We conducted a clinical study to analyze whether the clinical results of low‐dose and standard‐dose CPCGI in patients with ischemic stroke were different.

Specific neuroprotective effects of manual stimulation of real acupoints versus non-acupoints in rats after middle cerebral artery occlusion [PDF]
The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness and specific effects of acupuncture on ischemic-induced damage in rats after permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion. Cerebral ischemia was induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion in

Protein kinase C inhibition attenuates vascular ET(B )receptor upregulation and decreases brain damage after cerebral ischemia in rat [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Protein kinase C (PKC) is known to be involved in the pathophysiology of experimental cerebral ischemia. We have previously shown that after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion, there is an upregulation of endothelin receptors in the ...

Animal models of ischaemic stroke and characterisation of the ischaemic penumbra [PDF]
Over the past forty years, animal models of focal cerebral ischaemia have allowed us to identify the critical cerebral blood flow thresholds responsible for irreversible cell death, electrical failure, inhibition of protein synthesis, energy depletion ...

Attempt to establish an experimental animal model of moyamoya disease using immuno-embolic material--histological changes of the arterial wall resulting from immunological reaction in cats. [PDF]
In this study, we investigated the relationship between intimal thickening of the internal carotid artery (ICA) and immunological reaction, and between occlusion of the ICA and development of basal collateral vessels in moyamoya disease.

Computed microtomography visualization and quantification of mouse ischemic brain lesion by nonionic radio contrast agents. [PDF]
AIM: To explore the possibility of brain imaging by microcomputed tomography (microCT) using x-ray contrasting methods to visualize mouse brain ischemic lesions after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO).

CT perfusion as a selection tool for mechanical thrombectomy, a single-centre study [PDF]
Background: Recently, CT perfusion (CTP) has been proposed as a selection tool for stroke patients to be treated with endovascular thrombectomy.

A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse. Saddle thrombosis of carotid bifurcation in acute stroke [PDF]
Background: Saddle thrombosis is less frequently detected in carotid arteries than in peripheral arterial embolism. The clot and the distal vessel patency have to be promptly recognized in these cases, because if the carotid vessel is open distally ...
