Minimosymptomatic occlusion of the middle cerebral artery
Medical Hypotheses, 1981Minimosymptomatic occlusion of the MCA before the origin of the perforating branches is an exceedingly rare occurrence. We report two cases of MCA occlusion at its origin, the second case proven by the CT scan in vivo. Published work rules out the possibility of a functionally effective deep collateral circulation in the distribution of the capsular ...

Traumatic Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion
Radiology, 1966This work was supported in part by a Special Fellowship Award (1 F11 NB 1478-01 NSRA) from the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness, Public Health Service. Post-traumatic middle cerebral artery occlusion demonstrated angiographically and followed by full recovery has been infrequently reported (1, 2). We have had the opportunity to

OCCLUSION OF THE MIDDLE CEREBRAL ARTERY
A.M.A. Archives of Neurology & Psychiatry, 1951SIR ASTLEY COOPER1in 1836 reported the results of a series of experiments in which he ligated the principal cervical arteries and nerves in various combinations and sequences. He concluded that death following pressure on the neck was due to cerebral anemia rather than to a direct nervous mechanism.

Occlusive disease of the middle cerebral artery
Neurology, 1985We studied 20 patients with severe occlusive disease of the mainstem middle cerebral artery (MCA) or its major division branches, and 25 patients with internal carotid artery (ICA) disease. MCA disease patients were more often black, female, younger, and had fewer TIAs than the ICA disease patients. Neurologic signs in patients with MCA disease evolved

Perinatal Occlusion of the Middle Cerebral Artery
Developmental Medicine & Child Neurology, 1965SUMMARYTwo cases of cerebral infarction due to obstructive lesions of the middle cerebral artery are described and their causation is discussed. It is concluded that the arterial lesions occurred at or near birth and were of embolic origin, probably arising from the foetal veins of the placenta.

Proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulating middle cerebral artery occlusion
Neurology, 1991We describe 12 cases of acute stroke in which clinical features of proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion simulated the clinical syndrome of middle cerebral artery occlusion. The majority of patients developed contralateral hemiparesis, homonymous hemianopia, hemispatial neglect, and sensory loss or sensory inattention.

Traumatic occlusion of the middle cerebral artery
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1973✓ A case is reported of a patient rendered unconscious in a motorcycle accident. After a 6-hour lucid interval, he became unconscious again, and a left hemiplegia was noted. Arteriography demonstrated complete occlusion of the right middle cerebral artery. Comparable reported cases and theories of pathogenesis are discussed.

Schizencephaly with occlusion or absence of middle cerebral artery
Neuroradiology, 2006In a study of 160 infants with prenatal and/or perinatal risk factors for brain damage, we observed three cases of schizencephaly. All cases were unilateral, and the clefts had open lips. In two cases, magnetic resonance angiography showed occlusion or absence of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) on the affected side.

Acute operation in cases of middle cerebral artery occlusion
Neurosurgery, 1983Abstract The authors describe their personal experience with middle cerebral artery embolectomy performed in four patients within 6 hours after the start of clinical symptoms. The work is of a preliminary nature. No conclusion can be drawn as to the ultimate value of this treatment, and further clinical trials seem justified.

Benign Occlusion of the Middle Cerebral Artery
Cerebrovascular Diseases, 1993Five patients were identified during a 10-year period. Angiography performed for other reasons documented occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) in all patients. MCA occlusions were located along the stem in all patients. Collateral circulation was variable (good in 2, fair in 2, poor in 1) and did not completely account for the benign state ...
