Characterization of digestive α- and β-glucosidases in the midgut of Plagiodera versicolora Laicharting (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) [PDF]
The imported willow leaf beetle, Plagiodera versicolora is one of the main pests of forest trees worldwide including Iran. Activities of α- and β-glucosidases in the midgut of P. versicolora adults were studied in this research.

Characterization and manipulation of the bacterial community in the midgut of Ixodes ricinus
Background Ticks are obligate hematophagous arthropods transmitting a wide range of pathogens to humans and animals. They also harbor a non-pathogenic microbiota, primarily in the ovaries and the midgut. In the previous study on Ixodes ricinus, we used a

The brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, mainly secretes 4‐oxo‐(E)‐2‐hexenal, (E)‐2‐decenal, dodecane and tridecane, a mixture representative of that released by many heteropterans. We demonstrated that H. halys can synthesise these secretory components de novo using dietary glucose.

Midgut proteases from larval spodoptera littoralis (lepidoptera: noctutoae) [PDF]
The presence and properties of proteases present in larval midgut extracts from Spodoptera littoralis was investigated. Trypsin and chymotrypsin activities were found mainly in the midgut lumen while leucine aminopeptidase and dipeptidyl aminopeptidase ...

Mosquito Midgut Prostaglandin Release Establishes Systemic Immune Priming
Summary Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes that have been infected with Plasmodium mount a more effective immune response to a subsequent infection. Priming is established when Plasmodium invasion of the mosquito midgut allows contact of the gut microbiota ...
