Comparison Between Hybrid Laser-MIG Welding and MIG Welding for the invar36 Alloy

Optics and Laser Technology, 2016
Abstract The invar36 alloy is suitable to produce mold of composite materials structure because it has similar thermal expansion coefficient with composite materials. In the present paper, the MIG welding and laser-MIG hybrid welding methods are compared to get the more appropriate method to overcome the poor weldability of invar36 alloy.

A Comparison of TIG-MIG Hybrid Welding With Conventional MIG Welding in the Behaviors of Arc, Droplet and Weld Pool

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2019
Abstract The influence of electrode relative position and TIG current variation on arc stability and weld formation of TIG-MIG hybrid welding were studied comparing with that of conventional MIG welding. The welding current-voltage waveform was analyzed to characterize the arc stability.

MIG welding of aluminium alloys

Welding International, 1991
MIG welding is used as a highly efficient process for various types of metal. It involves creating an arc between an electrode, wire and the metal to be welded (parent metal) under the gaseous shield of an inert gas such as argon, thereby causing the wire to melt and transfer to the parent metal.

Plasma-MIG Welding

1993
Abstract Plasma-metal inert gas (MIG) welding can be defined as a combination of plasma arc welding (PAW) and gas-metal arc welding (GMAW) within a single torch, where a filler wire is fed through the plasma nozzle orifice. This article describes the principles of operation and operating modes of plasma-MIG welding.

Numerical Simulation of MIG Weld Pool in Switchback Welding

Welding in the World, 2009
The authors proposed a switchback welding method to make stable back beads in the first layer weld during one-side multi-layer welding. In the proposed welding method, a welding torch is moved backwards and forwards like a switchback. The torch motion is important in the control of the weld pool.
