Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Trans-Saharan migratory patterns in Vanessa cardui and evidence for a southward leapfrog migration

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Some insects, such as the painted lady butterfly Vanessa cardui, exhibit complex annual migratory cycles spanning multiple generations. Traversing extensive seas or deserts is often a required segment of these migratory journeys.

Males migrate farther than females in a differential migrant: an examination of the fasting endurance hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2014
Patterns of migration including connectivity between breeding and non-breeding populations and intraspecific variation in the distance travelled are important to study because they can affect individual fitness and population dynamics.

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Challenges and opportunities for data integration to improve estimation of migratory connectivity

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution
Understanding migratory connectivity, or the linkage of populations between seasons, is critical for effective conservation and management of migratory wildlife.

Migratory connectivity and variation in migration phenology within the Pacific population of Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica)

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology, 2022
Effective management of migratory animals requires an understanding of individual movement patterns throughout the annual cycle. We used satellite transmitters to track adult Barrow’s Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) captured at five wintering sites, one ...

Spatial and Temporal Variability in Migration of a Soaring Raptor Across Three Continents

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and Evolution, 2019
Disentangling individual- and population-level variation in migratory movements is necessary for understanding migration at the species level. However, very few studies have analyzed these patterns across large portions of species' distributions.

Bio‐Inspired Molecular Events in Poly(Ionic Liquids)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Originating from dipolar and polar inter‐ and intra‐chain interactions of the building blocks, the topologies and morphologies of poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) govern their nano‐ and micro‐processibility. Modulating the interactions of cation‐anion pairs with aliphatic dipolar components enables the tunability of properties, facilitated by “bottom‐up ...

Human infections associated with wild birds. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
IntroductionWild birds and especially migratory species can become long-distance vectors for a wide range of microorganisms. The objective of the current paper is to summarize available literature on pathogens causing human disease that have been ...

Self‐Powered Permeable Electronic Dressing for Exudate Management, Electrostimulation and Drug Delivery in Chronic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a self‐powered permeable electronic dressing (SPED) that synergistically integrates exudate management, electrical stimulation, and on‐demand drug delivery. The dressing effectively absorbs exudate while demonstrating potent antibacterial activity and accelerated tissue regeneration in diabetic mouse models, thereby promoting ...
