CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

COMPARISON OF LANDSCAPE, PATCH, AND LOCAL HABITAT EFFECTS ON RISK OF PREDATION OF ARTIFICIAL WILD TURKEY NESTS

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2015
: Eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris; hereafter, turkeys) often show preference for nesting near forest—field edges. Increasing landscape fragmentation, particularly in the eastern United States, has provided abundant edges but has also

Differences in the trophic ecology of micronekton driven by diel vertical migration. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Many species of micronekton perform diel vertical migrations (DVMs), which ultimately contributes to carbon export to the deep sea. However, not all micronekton species perform DVM, and the nonmigrators, which are often understudied, have different ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Status assessment of peregrine falcons in North America using integrated population models

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Species status assessments require an understanding of underlying population dynamics and important drivers of species demography. Large-scale assessments can be difficult due to challenges collating data obtained through different methods and different ...

Adaptive management to improve eagle conservation at terrestrial wind facilities

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, 2021
The development and installation of renewable energy comes with environmental cost, including the death of wildlife. These costs occur locally, and seem small compared to the global loss of biodiversity.

Differences in early developmental rate and yolk conversion efficiency in offspring of trout with alternative life histories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Partial migration, in which some individuals of a population migrate while other individuals remain resident, is generally associated with ontogenetic shifts to better feeding areas or as a response to environmental instability, but its underlying ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Body condition and molt chronology of waterfowl in east central Texas

open access: yesJournal of Field Ornithology, 2022
Waterfowl undergo changes in body condition during migratory and wintering periods that can affect survival and reproduction. Understanding how condition varies among age and sex cohorts and temporally can inform habitat management during the post- and ...

Partial migration alters population ecology and food chain length: evidence from a salmonid fish

open access: yesEcosphere, 2020
Many migratory species, from monarch butterflies to wildebeest, express partial migration, where only a subset of a population migrates. This intraspecific variation is likely to have large ecological consequences.
