An interdisciplinary review of the interplay of conflict, socio‐economic factors, and land cover and vegetation dynamics in Colombia
PLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.Colombia's forests play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity and mitigating climate change, but they are currently facing severe degradation, particularly after the 2016 Peace Agreement. Our literature review highlights a growing research interest in this topic and demonstrates how interdisciplinary approaches combining diverse methods can enhance Estefanía Muñoz, Jesús A. PLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.Ambitious targets have been set to backup seeds of threatened plants by the global strategy for plant conservation (GSPC), but it is unclear in how far these targets have been met and how seed collection should be organized to meet future challenges. Here, we provide an overview of the status of 44 countries in achieving seed conservation targets.Andreas Ensslin, Adelaide Clemente, Udayangani Liu, Elke Zippel, Carla Pinto‐Cruz, Carolina Sanchez Romero, Simone Schneider, Agustí Agut Escrig, Charlotte Allender, Külli Annamaa, Marina Antic, Bertille Asset, Gianluigi Bacchetta, Oz Baranzani, Anamaria Barata, Philippe Bardin, Joze Bavcon, Anabela D. PLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.Societal Impact Statement
Crop wild relatives (CWR) are valuable sources of genetic diversity for plant breeding. However, the identification of wild untapped genetic resources (i.e., unexploited in crops) is not always straightforward. We propose a methodology to guide the identification and conservation of these resources that integrates both genetic Andrés Barea‐Márquez, Guillaume Besnard, Miguel González Ximénez‐Embún, Carlos García‐Verdugo, Concepción M.
