Lung Cancer in Mild Steel Welders
American Journal of Epidemiology, 1991To investigate lung cancer risk, the authors conducted a historical cohort mortality study of 4,459 mild steel welders who had been employed at three midwestern plants which manufactured heavy equipment. Follow-up began in the mid-1950s and extended through 1988. All welders had at least 2 years welding experience (average duration, 8.5 years).

The breakdown of passivity on mild steel
Corrosion Science, 1992Abstract The voltage required for breakdown of passivity on mild steel was measured as a function of pH and halide concentration. A relation of the type was found where A and B are constants. At constant pH and constant halide concentration, there is evidence that the value of E br increases from chloride to bromide to iodide.

Diethanolamine SCC of Mild Steel
CORROSION 1986, 1986Abstract The stress corrosion cracking characteristics of mild steels in 20% diethanolamine solution with and without bisulfide and bicarbonate (acid gas) loadings were examined. Most evidence of SCC was found as temperature increased (up to 160°F)in solutions with low or no acid gas loading.

The determination of boron in mild steel
The Analyst, 1966A method of controlling the reaction between acetic anhydride and water to permit the development of the boronz-curcumin complex without the previous separation of iron is described. The effect of other elements in amounts normally found in mild steel has been examined.

Damage evolution in mild steel
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1988Abstract Macroscopic attributes of damage resulting from development of microvoids in a cold-strained mild steel are examined. One of them is the relative density change, the evolution of which has been found experimentally in torsion and in a process close to uniaxial tension.

The fretting corrosion of mild steel
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1956Abstract A quantitative investigation of the fretting corrosion of mild-steel specimens is described. Measurements have been made of the frictional forces, the degree of damage and the variations in the electrical contact resistance for a wide range of applied loads, vibration amplitudes and number of cycles of motion.
