Studies on boronising of mild steel

Materials Letters, 1982
Abstract Mild steel was boronised using a pack-cementation process. The pack contained boron carbide as boron source and ammonium bifluoride as activator. The effect of process variables like temperature and pack composition on the phase formation at the surface was studied.

Borosilicate coatings on mild steel

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1992
Abstract Borosilicate glass coatings were obtained on mild steel substrates by the dip-coating sol-gel technique. Different coating solutions were used in fresh and aged conditions. The samples were characterized by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

The Corrosion Behavior of Mild Steel

2017
In this study, the inhibition effect of 3-aminomethyl pyridine (3AMP) on mild steel corrosion behavior inacidic medium is investigated. The electrochemical techniques (electrochemical impedance spectroscopyand polarization measurements) and quantum chemical calculations were obtained.

The strain ageing of mild steel

Acta Metallurgica, 1965
Abstract The behaviour during the strain ageing of mild steel containing 0.003 wt. % carbon in solid solution (0.03 wt. % carbon total) was followed using a simple torsion pendulum. Strains of 20 % in tension were used. The results have been analysed by a method similar to that of Wepner (Acta Met.5, 703 (1957)). The analysis has shown that there is

The tensile fracture of mild steel

1966
The fibrous and cleavage tensile fracture of an annealed mild steel was investigated. Round tensile specimens of two geometries, one straight and one with a circumferential notch, were pulled at temperatures between room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature. Tensile fractures occurred at average strains from 0.02 to 0.87.

Joints on Mild Steel Pipes

1970
Mild steel or wrought iron pipes may be jointed by one of the following methods: (a) screwed joints with special fittings; (b) autogenous welded joints; (c) flanged joints.
