Ferroptosis‐Mediated Hippocampal Neuronal Loss Post‐mTBI: Chromatin Accessibility Profiling and Single‐Nucleus Transcriptomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hippocampal single ‐nucleus transcriptomes and chromatin accessibility after mild traumatic brain injury reveal dentate granule neuron vulnerability driven by ferroptosis. The c‐Jun–Tmsb4x–Slc2a2 axis modulates lipid peroxidation and iron dysregulation.

Characterizing the Risk of Depression Following Mild Traumatic Brain Injury: A Meta-Analysis of the Literature Comparing Chronic mTBI to Non-mTBI Populations

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2020
Objective: Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is associated with depressed mood acutely post-injury, but there is little evidence regarding long-term depression.

Disease Control and Prevention [PDF]

open access: yes
— i — Some thoughts about traumatic brain injury (TBI) data… …People are uneducated about traumatic brain injury. They don’t recognize it when it happens to them or their loved ones; they don’t know the extent of the public health problem….

Dipiperazine‐Phenyl Derivatives Based on Convergent Molecular Platforms Can Reverse Multidrug Resistance in Gram‐Negative Bacteria by Inhibiting Efflux and Permeabilizing Cell Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating a convergent molecular platform strategy, this study designed a novel dual‐target C5 to combat multidrug‐resistant Gram‐negative bacteria. C5 synergistically enhances antibiotic efficacy by inhibiting efflux pumps and increasing bacterial membrane permeability.

Underlying Ehlers-Danlos syndrome discovered during neuro-ophthalmic evaluation of concussion patients: a case series

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2019
Background The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes are a heterogenous group of diseases that cause connective tissue defects. At present, there are no published reports focusing upon the neuro-ophthalmic symptoms that might occur in EDS patients after mild traumatic

Routine repeat head CT may not be necessary for patients with mild TBI. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background:Routine repeat cranial CT (RHCT) is standard of care for CT-verified traumatic brain injury (TBI). Despite mixed evidence, those with mild TBI are subject to radiation and expense from serial CT scans.

Satellite microglia: marker of traumatic brain injury and regulator of neuronal excitability

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation
Traumatic brain injury is a leading cause of chronic neurologic disability and a risk factor for development of neurodegenerative disease. However, little is known regarding the pathophysiology of human traumatic brain injury, especially in the window ...
