Effects of energy source on growth and body composition of Holstein calves fed only milk replacer or whole milk

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Whether lactose or fat is a better fuel for protein synthesis and deposition in young calves has remained controversial. Also, it remains uncertain whether bioactive factors in whole milk might influence growth compared with a milk replacer of similar ...

Development of methods for reducing feed costs when growing young goats [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Research was conducted to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of growing young goats in the first three months of life by using cheaper whole milk replacers (WMR) and sprouted cereals with increased biological value in the diet.

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

DAIRY HERD MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOCUSING ON PREWEANED HEIFERS [PDF]

open access: yes
The National Dairy Heifer Evaluation Project ( NDHEP ) was conducted by the National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS ) from April 1991 through July 1992 with the assistance of 1,811 producers from 28 states.

Diarrhoea scores and weight changes in response to artificial milk supplementation or use of solulyte-neomycin solution in preweaning piglets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of supplemental milk replacer and solulyte-neomix solution in preweaning piglets. A total of 199 five-day-old piglets from 22litters were available for this three-week study.

DOT1L Drives Endothelial‐to‐Mesenchymal Transition and Fibrotic Vascular Remodeling via H3K79 Methylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DOT1L as a central epigenetic regulator of EndoMT and pulmonary fibrosis. Acting as an early epigenetic switch, it translates TGFβ–SMAD signaling into H3K79me2‐mediated chromatin remodeling, selectively activates fibrosis‐related genes, and primes ECs for rapid mesenchymal transition.

Hepatocyte PIEZO1 Negatively Regulates Lipogenesis and Ameliorates MASLD by Sensing Membrane Tension and Activating AMPK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

Fibronectin1‐Expressing Subicular Circuits Selectively Govern the Retrieval of Novel Object Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibronectin 1 (FN1)‐expressing subicular subpopulations encode novel object preference and selectively govern retrieval of novel object recognition (NOR) via affecting excitability of entorhinal‐projecting circuit through large conductance Ca2+‐activated potassium (BK) channel. ABSTRACT Novel object recognition (NOR), referring to the cognitive ability

Antagonistic Effect of Intestinal Bacteria from the Microflora of Holoxenic (Conventional) Piglets, Against Clostridium Perfringens in the Digestive Tract of Gnotoxenic Mice and Gnotoxenic Piglets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Antagonistic effect of piglet microflora against Clostridium perfringens was studied in germfree mice, to isolate bacterial strains responsible for this colonization resistance.

Replacement of Whole Milk by Milk Replacer in the Ration of Holstein-Friesian Calves Raised in Eastern Turkey

open access: yes, 2000
The rearing of dairy calves in Turkey depends mainly on the feeding of cow's milk. Although whole milk is the ideal feed for young calves, the milk replacers are cheaper than whole milk, and they are also economically feasible means of reducing calf feeding cost.
