Effect of concentrate feeding on milking frequency and milk yield in an automatic milking system [PDF]

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2005
The application of Automatic Milking Systems (AMS) represents a substantial innovation in dairy cattle. The introduction of this new technology puts some questions about cow management. A correct and regular flow of animals through the milking unit appears fundamental to improve efficiency of AMS, animal welfare and performances.

PHENOTYPIC AND GENETIC CORRELATIONS BETWEEN FIRST LACTATION MILK YIELD AND SOME PERFORMANCE TRAITS IN SAHIWAL CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2004
Data on 8948 pedigree, breeding and performance records of a purebred herd of Sahiwal cattle maintained at the Livestock Experiment Station Jahangirabad district Khanewal (Pakistan) during the period 1939-98 were analysed.

Relationship between biochemical analytes and milk fat/protein in Holstein cows

open access: yesAustral Journal of Veterinary Sciences, 2019
The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between biochemical analytes and milk fat/protein in high-yield (DIM: 42 ± 10 d postpartum) and low-yield (DIM: 91 ± 11 d postpartum) Holstein cows.

Effect of Automatic Milking Systems on Milk Yield in a Hot Environment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2006
A comparative study was performed to evaluate differences in milk yield between an automatic milking system (AMS) and a conventional herringbone milking parlor system. Two herds of Italian-Friesian cows were reared in the same barn, located in the Po Valley in northern Italy. Twenty-five primiparous cows and 10 multiparous cows were milked with an AMS,

The chemical composition and technological properties of milk obtained from the morning and evening milking

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2008
Milk yield varies during lactation, following what is termed a lactation curve. ŽIŽLAVSKÝ and MIKŠÍK (1988) recorded changes in milk yield within a day, too. TEPLÝ et al. (1979) a KOUŘIMSKÁ et al. (2007) published variation within a day ± 1.10 kg in milk

Behavior, Milk Yield, and Milk Composition of Machine-and Hand-Milked Murgese Mares [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2007
A 25-d trial was performed to assess the effects of machine and hand milking on behavior, and milk yield and composition of mares; the trial involved 8 Murgese mares. Milk yield was higher (7.69 vs. 4.91 kg) and milking time was shorter (1.80 vs. 5.40 min) in machine-milked than in hand-milked mares.

Milk composition of Holstein cows: a retrospective study

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2018
: Worldwide, milk analysis is an satisfactory measurement of milk quality on dairy farms. Milk composition is the base for payment systems, so knowledge of its characteristics at different periods is essential for modern dairy producer.

Milk Energy Yield and the Correlation between Fat Percentage and Milk Yield

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1940
Summary The theory that milk yield, so far as affected by fat percentage (or milk composition), is inversely proportional to milk energy per unit of milk (or milk-energy yield is independent of milk composition) is used to develop the expected coefficient of correlation between fat percentage and milk yield, r Mf . On this theory it develops that −

Effect of Environmental Factors on Milk Production Traits and Energy-Corrected Milk Yield in Karan Fries Cattle

open access: yesInternational Journal of Bio-Resource and Stress Management
The present study was conducted to analyze milk production traits and energy-corrected milk yield using 11569 first lactation milk production records of 1393 Karan Fries cows, calved between 1989 and 2014.

Estimates of Genetic and Phenotypic Parameters for Milk Production in Moroccan Holstein-Friesian Cows

open access: yesRevue d’Elevage et de Médecine Vétérinaire des Pays Tropicaux, 2002
Heritabilities, repeatabilities and genetic and phenotypic correlations among milk yield, fat yield and fat percentage were estimated using an animal model and 20,140 records of 11,618 Holstein-Friesian cows enrolled in the Moroccan official milk ...
