Common construction materials do not deter turtles from nesting in roadside habitat

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 3, April 2026.
We used a before‐during‐after study to evaluate rock rip‐rap at wetland crossings as a mitigation strategy to deter female turtles from nesting in unsafe roadside habitats. Although females did not nest in the rip‐rap, they continued to nest in roadside habitat, indicating the strategy was unsuccessful and required further research.

Evidence for the production of three massive vector bosons with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
A search for the production of three massive vector bosons in proton–proton collisions is performed using data at s=13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in the years 2015–2017, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of ...

Using feedback requests to actively involve assessees in peer assessment : effects on the assessor’s feedback content and assessee’s agreement with feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Criticizing the common approach of supporting peer assessment through providing assessors with an explication of assessment criteria, recent insights on peer assessment call for support focusing on assessees, who often assume a passive role of receivers ...

Effect of human myoblasts on tenogenic progression in 2D and 3D culture models

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 248, Issue 4, Page 653-663, April 2026.
We investigated whether factors released from muscle derived myogenic cells enhance tenogenic progressions of human tendon derived cells using two‐dimensional (2D) culture model and a three‐dimensional (3D)‐engineered tendon construct culture model.

Measurement of the production cross-section of a single top quark in association with a Z boson in proton–proton collisions at 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2018
The production of a top quark in association with a Z boson is investigated. The proton–proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015 and 2016 at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated ...

Short-term effects of CO₂-induced low pH exposure on target gene expression in Platynereis dumerilii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Objective: Increasing atmospheric CO₂ concentration are causing changes to the seawater carbonate chemistry, lowering the pH and we study potential impacts of these changes at the molecular level in a non-calcifying, marine polychaete species Platynereis

Red Algae From Insular Environments in the Mexican Atlantic: Taxonomic Diversity, Conservation, and Biogeographic Affinities

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
In this study, we present the first analysis of diversity and distribution of red algae from insular environments in the Mexican Atlantic, with the aim to identify and describe their patterns of taxonomic diversity, to propose priority areas for conservation, and show their biogeographical affinities.

Measurements of gluon–gluon fusion and vector-boson fusion Higgs boson production cross-sections in the H → WW⁎ → eνμν decay channel in pp collisions at s=13TeV with the ATLAS detector

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
Higgs boson production cross-sections in proton–proton collisions are measured in the H→WW⁎→eνμν decay channel. The proton–proton collision data were produced at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS ...

Depleted Dissolved Oxygen Concentrations Impair the Embryonic and Early Larval Development of Eastern Hellbenders (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis)

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 345, Issue 2, Page 112-126, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Depletion of dissolved oxygen (DO; hypoxia) and its influence on sensitive fauna and vulnerable life stages is an emerging concern in lotic freshwater ecosystems. A species particularly vulnerable to hypoxia is the Eastern Hellbender—a large‐bodied, fully aquatic salamander which relies on cutaneous respiration and has evolved to thrive in ...
