Ultrafast Optoelectronic Devices for Millimeter-Waves
MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005We discuss a new class of devices in which the propagation parameters of millimeter-waves are controlled by a laser induced electron-hole plasma in a semiconductor waveguide. The performance of high speed (better than one nanosecond), efficient millimeter-wave phase shifters, modulators, switches, and gating devices are reported.

Millimeter wave superconducting devices
AIP Conference Proceedings, 1978Significant progress has been made during the past two years in the development of millimeter wave superconducting devices. The present status of bolometric detectors and mixers, Josephson‐effect mixers, quasiparticle mixers, and Josephson‐effect parametric amplifiers will be reviewed.

Millimeter-Wave Relativistic Electron Devices
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics, 2003We briefly review advances and new ideas in the field of obtaining superpowerful coherent millimeter-wave radiation. Devices based on the stimulated bremsstrahlung and the Cherenkov radiation of curved and rectilinear relativistic electron beams, respectively, are considered, in particular, gyrodevices (including traditional gyrotrons, large-orbit ...

High-performance millimeter-wave superlattice electronic devices
Applied Physics Letters, 2008Negative differential resistance devices, based on two similar AlAs/GaAs superlattice structures, were fabricated using a standard selective etching and integral heat sink technology and evaluated in a resonant-cap full-height WR-15 waveguide cavity. Devices from both superlattice structures generated comparable output powers in the fundamental mode at

Millimeter-Wave Control P-I-N-Devices
2006 16th International Crimean Microwave and Telecommunication Technology, 2006In this paper the results of design of millimeter-wave double-pole single-throw switches and broadband phase shifters are presented. Microwave solid-state components on the basis of pin-diodes for modulation switching and phase shifting are considered.

Smart millimeter-wave devices using liquid crystal
SPIE Proceedings, 2004Smart liquid crystal (LC) millimeter-wave (MMW) electronic devices are demonstrated using the electrically- controllable permittivity through LC directors’ reorientation. In this paper, we review the LC classes and its important physical properties for the proposed applications.

Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Resonant-Tunnelling Devices
1990Resonant tunneling through double-barrier heterostructures has attracted increasing interest recently, largely because of the fast charge transport [1] it provides. In addition, the negative differential resistance regions which exist in the current-voltage (I–V) curve (peak-to- valley ratios of 3.5:1 at room temperature [2–4] and nearly 10:1 at 77 K ...

Symmetry And Periodicity For Millimeter Wave Devices
SPIE Proceedings, 1988Symmetry and periodicity is discussed as it pertains to wave propagation, with particular emphasis on Floquet's theorem and Bloch's theorem. Floquet's theorem in three dimensions is applied to a circular waveguide with screw periodicity. The resulting dispersion characteristics of the uncoupled modes are compared to those of a normal circular waveguide.

Aluminium oxide technology for millimeter wave devices
14th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications. MIKON - 2002. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat.No.02EX562), 2003In this paper we present the results of the design and research of millimetre-wave amplifiers which had been manufactured on aluminium oxide substrates of a new type. The design of the amplifier is carried out based on calculated parameters offered by an equivalent scheme and measured V-I characteristics of the HEMT.

Millimeter-Wave Superconducting Quantum Devices
To continue achieving ever faster computation speeds, future computer processors may need to increase their operating frequency to achieve clock speeds beyond several GHz. Quantum computing offers an alternate approach by leveraging quantum mechanical superposition to make each clock operation more efficient, allowing the processor to solve certain ...openaire +2 more sources
