Compliance error compensation in robotic-based milling [PDF]
The paper deals with the problem of compliance errors compensation in robotic-based milling. Contrary to previous works that assume that the forces/torques generated by the manufacturing process are constant, the interaction between the milling tool and ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Performance of laser assisted micro-milling (laμmill) of titanium alloy using micro ball end mill [PDF]
Laser assisted milling technique turns to be complicated and unpredictable when the machining size is scaled to micro level. Furthermore, less has been reported on the application of ball end mill in laser assisted micro milling.

Analysis of the Machining Process of Inconel 718 Parts Manufactured by Laser Metal Deposition [PDF]
Laser metal deposition (LMD) is an additive manufacturing process that allows the manufacturing of near-net-shape products. This could mean significant savings in terms of materials and costs in the manufacturing of high-performance components for the ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

FRF Estimation through Sweep Milling Force Excitation (SMFE) [PDF]
Inaccurate machine dynamics characterization is thought to be one of the main sources of errors in current cutting stability models. For this reason, traditional dynamic characterization procedures have been called into question.
