Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Dry milling of magnesium based hybrid materials

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering, 2008
In the transportation industry, a general desire is to reduce the energy consumption. One way to achieve this is the use of light weight metals like magnesium and its´ alloys. An alternative solution is the use of magnesium based hybrid structures which are combinations of magnesium and another material like aluminium or steel in one machine part ...

Investigation of experimental study of end milling of CFRP composite

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2015
Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites are materials that are difficult to machine due to the anisotropic and heterogeneous properties of the material and poor surface quality, which can be seen during the machining process.

The Realization of Multidirectional, Free‐Standing 3D Plasmonic Nanostructures via 3D Nanoprinting: A Case Study of Fractal Antennas

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Free‐standing plasmonic gold‐based fractal antennas are fabricated by 3D nanoprinting, employing focused electron beam induced deposition and an optimized purification method to remove carbon while conserving structural fidelity. Simulation and experiment show broadband plasmonic activity, including customizable polarizability, thereby paving the way ...
