A number field extension of a question of Milnor

open access: yes, 2016
Milnor formulated a conjecture about rational linear independence of some special Hurwitz zeta values. The second and third authors along with Ram Murty studied this conjecture and suggested an extension of Milnor's conjecture. In this note, we investigate the number field generalisation of this extended Milnor conjecture.

The Milnor number of some isolated complete intersection singularities with 𝐶*-action

open access: yes, 1978
We compute the Milnor number of isolated complete intersection singularities defined by weighted homogeneous polynomials of the same type. We use this result to compute the characteristic polynomial of a certain monodromy and thus obtain some information

Euler characteristic of the Milnor fibre of plane singularities

open access: yes, 1999
We give a formula for the Euler characteristic of the Milnor fibre of any analytic function f of two variables. This formula depends on the intersection multiplicity, the multiplicity and the Milnor number of the branches of the germ of curve defined by ...

A formula relating inflections, bitangencies and the Milnor number of a plane curve

open access: yes, 2014
In this article we obtain a formula relating inflections, bitangencies and the Milnor number of a plane curve germ. Moreover, we present an extension of the formula obtained by the first author and Luis Fernando Mello for a class of plane curves with ...

Milnor numbers for surface singularities

open access: yes, 1997
We give some formulae for the Milnor number of isolated surface singularities that are defined by an analytic function f. These formulae relate the Milnor number with geometrical and topological invariants of the projective plane curves defined by the ...
