Straddle carrier routing optimization at container terminals utilizing telemetry‐based prediction

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Efficient vehicle routing and scheduling for horizontal transport means on container terminals can reduce lead times and travel distances, resulting in fuel savings and productivity gains. We apply machine learning to emulate operational processes, bridging the gap between theoretical optimization models and real‐world practices at container ...

A new Hyphessobrycon (Characiformes: Acestrorhamphidae) of the Hyphessobrycon agulha lineage of Hyphessobryconinae from the lower Aripuanã basin, Brazil, with comments about the lineage

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract A new species of Hyphessobrycon is described from a tributary of Rio Jatuarana, lower Rio Aripuanã basin, Rio Madeira basin, Apuí, Amazonas. The new species is part of the Hyphessobrycon agulha lineage, with the typical midlateral narrow black stripe immediately followed dorsally by an iridescent stripe.

An Efficient Building Evacuation Algorithm in Congested Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a new network model for the building evacuation problem considering congestion levels and provides a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model and an efficient heuristic algorithm solving the problem.

A novel dual‐decomposition method for non‐convex two‐stage stochastic mixed‐integer quadratically constrained quadratic problems

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 3128-3157, September 2026.
Abstract We propose the novel p‐branch‐and‐bound method for solving two‐stage stochastic programming problems whose deterministic equivalents are represented by non‐convex mixed‐integer quadratically constrained quadratic programming (MIQCQP) models. The precision of the solution generated by the p‐branch‐and‐bound method can be arbitrarily adjusted by

Discounted Pseudocosts in MILP

open access: yes
In this article, we introduce the concept of discounted pseudocosts, inspired by discounted total reward in reinforcement learning, and explore their application in mixed-integer linear programming (MILP). Traditional pseudocosts estimate changes in the objective function due to variable bound changes during the branch-and-bound process. By integrating

Production routing decisions in a two‐echelon supply chain with multiple delivery modes

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 3385-3421, September 2026.
Abstract We study an original two‐echelon production routing problem with multiple delivery modes (2E‐PRP‐MDM). In the first echelon, the primary production facility is tasked with satisfying the demands of two distinct entities: a set of warehouses and a set of customers through direct shipments. In the second echelon, warehouses become delivery hubs,

Graph‐based imitation and reinforcement learning for efficient Benders decomposition

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 72, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract This work introduces an end‐to‐end graph‐based agent for accelerating the computational efficiency of Benders Decomposition. The agent's policy is parameterized by a graph neural network, which takes as input a bipartite graph representation of the master problem and proposes a candidate solution.

Predictive Building Energy Management by Means of Mixed‐Integer Optimal Control With Automated Setup

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Today, a significant portion of total final energy consumption can be attributed to heating systems in buildings. Reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in this sector is, therefore, crucial to achieving the goals of climate action initiatives worldwide.

Optimal Coordinated Bidding of a Profit Maximizing, Risk-Averse EV Aggregator in Three-Settlement Markets Under Uncertainty

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper develops a two-stage stochastic and dynamically updated multi-period mixed integer linear program (SD-MILP) for optimal coordinated bidding of an electric vehicle (EV) aggregator to maximize its profit from participating in competitive day ...
