Mixed Mimetic Spectral Element method applied to Darcy's problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a discretization for Darcy's problem using the recently developed Mimetic Spectral Element Method. The gist lies in the exact discrete representation of integral relations.

Mimetic Spectral Element Method for Anisotropic Diffusion [PDF]

open access: green, 2018
This paper addresses the topological structure of steady, anisotropic, inhomogeneous diffusion problems. Two discrete formulations: a) mixed and b) direct formulations are discussed. Differential operators are represented by sparse incidence matrices, while weighted mass matrices play the role of metric-dependent Hodge matrices.

Inner products in covolume and mimetic methods [PDF]

open access: bronzeESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Analysis, 2008
A class of compatible spatial discretizations for solving partial differential equations is presented. A discrete exact framework is developed to classify these methods which include the mimetic and the covolume methods as well as certain low-order finite element methods.

A Mimetic Method

open access: yesA Peer-Reviewed Journal About, 2022
How does a practice of mimesis — as dramatic enactment in a live-action role-playing game (LARP) — relate to the design of artificial intelligence systems? In this article, I trace the contours of a mimetic method, working through an auto-ethnographic approach in tandem with new materialist theory and in conjunction with recent tendencies in design ...

A conservative, consistent, and scalable meshfree mimetic method [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Computational Physics, 2020
Mimetic methods discretize divergence by restricting the Gauss theorem to mesh cells. Because point clouds lack such geometric entities, construction of a compatible meshfree divergence remains a challenge. In this work, we define an abstract Meshfree Mimetic Divergence (MMD) operator on point clouds by contraction of field and virtual face moments ...

On low order mimetic finite difference methods [PDF]

open access: green, 2012
These pages review two families of mimetic finite difference methods: the mixed-type methods presented in [Brezzi, Lipnikov, and Simoncini, M3AS, 2005] and the nodal methods of [Brezzi, Buffa, and Lipnikov, M2AN, 2009]. The purpose of this exercise it to highlight the similitudes underlying the construction of the two families.

A Two-Level Method for Mimetic Finite Difference Discretizations of Elliptic Problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We propose and analyze a two-level method for mimetic finite difference approximations of second order elliptic boundary value problems. We prove that the two-level algorithm is uniformly convergent, i.e., the number of iterations needed to achieve ...

Advanced Statistical Analysis of 3D Kinect Data: Mimetic Muscle Rehabilitation Following Head and Neck Surgeries Causing Facial Paresis

open access: yesSensors, 2020
An advanced statistical analysis of patients’ faces after specific surgical procedures that temporarily negatively affect the patient’s mimetic muscles is presented.
