Cell-free Massive MIMO with multi-antenna access points and user terminals

2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2020
The objective of the paper is to discuss the optimization of "cell-free" massive MIMO (CF-MaMIMO), in which antennas are distributed among access points (APs) throughout the service area, specifically for the case of multiple antennas at user terminals (UTs).

Triple-band MIMO Dipole Antenna for LTE Access Points

Frequenz, 2018
Abstract A MIMO dipole antenna with triple band operation for 4 G LTE femtocell is proposed. This designed dipole antenna with a regulated RL ≥ 10 dB can achieve 128/1007 MHz (18.3/39.2 %) for the LTE 700/2300/2500 MHz operating bands respectively. The measured maximum peak antenna gains and efficiencies approach 4.8/7.4 dBi and 92/88 % across 700/2300/

Effect of Antenna Configuration on MIMO-Based Access Points in a Short Tunnel With Infrastructure

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2016
Performance of MIMO technology is highly dependent on the surrounding propagation environment and antenna configuration. In order to benefit from MIMO technology inside underground mines with low angular spread, careful antenna design and deployment strategies are required.

Cell-free massive MIMO systems utilizing multi-antenna access points

2017 51st Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2017
Cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) was recently proposed as an alternative to partitioning coverage area into cells. The main idea is to have many access points (APs) distributed over the coverage area to serve a smaller number of users. Users are served by all APs simultaneously by sharing time and frequency resources.

A slotted waveguide based MIMO antenna system for wireless access points

2016 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (APSURSI), 2016
In this work, a slotted rectangular waveguide (SRWG) with multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna configuration for wireless access points is presented. The MIMO antenna system consists of 4 elements and operates from 5 to 6 GHz. A Genetic Algorithm (GA) was applied to find the optimized position of the slots.

Concurrent dual-band six antenna system for MIMO access points

2012 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2012
This paper presents a novel six antennas backed by a hexagon ground plane and broadside radiation for broadband dual-frequency operation. The antenna system mainly comprises an antenna ground plane and single-band antennas, among which the three antennas are designated for 2.4 and 5 GHz operation, The results show that well port isolation can be ...

Investigation of a Triple-Band Multibeam MIMO Antenna for Wireless Access Points

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 2016
A triple-band multibeam multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is investigated for access points (APs). The triple-band antenna covers 2.4–2.5, 3.4–3.7, and 5.1–5.9 GHz frequency bands with high gains and directional radiation patterns for WLAN/WiMAX applications.

Integrated 4-Element MIMO Antenna and mm-Wave Arrays for 5G Access Points

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, 2020
This work presents a dual-band 4-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna design for 5G application, which operates at sub-6 GHz and millimeter-waves. The sub-6 GHz MIMO antennas consists of wideband monopoles that covers the 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz bands, while the mm-wave antenna is a planar connected array with slots acting as radiators ...
