Distributed MIMO Systems for 6G

open access: yes2023 Joint European Conference on Networks and Communications & 6G Summit (EuCNC/6G Summit), 2023
This study focuses on Distributed MIMO (D-MIMO) systems and provides a discussion about their role in next generation networks. The paradigm shift to distributed networks offers great potential to address the 6G requirements, through macro diversity. As 6G scenarios and use cases continue to emerge, new challenges are likely to arise that may affect ...

On the convergence of massive MIMO systems [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2014
In this paper we examine convergence properties of massive MIMO systems with the aim of determining the number of antennas required for massive MIMO gains. We consider three characteristics of a channel matrix and study their asymptotic behaviour. Furthermore, we derive ZF SNR and MF SINR for a scenario of unequal receive powers.

3-D Geometrical Model for Multi-Polarized MIMO Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems capacity is highly influenced by the correlation between antennas, and the high correlation will result in a low capacity.

Weighted target detector via estimated SNR in a multipath environment

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Multipath effect cause serious performance degradation in low-altitude target detection. To overcome the negative multipath effect in a low-altitude environment, a novel weighted detector based on the estimated signal-to-noise ratio (ESNR) is proposed ...

Joint power control and user grouping mechanism for efficient uplink non‐orthogonal multiple access‐based 5G communication: Utilising the Lèvy‐flight firefly algorithm

open access: yesIET Networks, EarlyView., 2023
We utilise a metaheuristic optimisation method, inspired by nature, called the Lévy‐flight firefly algorithm (LFA), to tackle the power regulation and user grouping in the NOMA systems. Abstract The non‐orthogonal multiple access strategies have shown promise to boost fifth generation and sixth generation wireless networks' spectral efficiency and ...
