Joint power control and user grouping mechanism for efficient uplink non‐orthogonal multiple access‐based 5G communication: Utilising the Lèvy‐flight firefly algorithm

open access: yesIET Networks, EarlyView., 2023
We utilise a metaheuristic optimisation method, inspired by nature, called the Lévy‐flight firefly algorithm (LFA), to tackle the power regulation and user grouping in the NOMA systems. Abstract The non‐orthogonal multiple access strategies have shown promise to boost fifth generation and sixth generation wireless networks' spectral efficiency and ...

Weighted target detector via estimated SNR in a multipath environment

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Multipath effect cause serious performance degradation in low-altitude target detection. To overcome the negative multipath effect in a low-altitude environment, a novel weighted detector based on the estimated signal-to-noise ratio (ESNR) is proposed ...

MU-MIMO in LTE Systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2011
A relatively recent idea of extending the benefits of MIMO systems to multiuser scenarios seems promising in the context of achieving high data rates envisioned for future cellular standards after 3G (3rd Generation). Although substantial research has been done on the theoretical front, recent focus is on making Multiuser Multiple-Input Multiple-Output

MIMO Systems With Adaptive Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2005
Adaptive modulation (AM) schemes in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems with a perfect or imperfect channel state information (CSI) at both the transmitter and receiver were investigated. Under an average transmit power and instantaneous bit error rate (BER) constraint, the transmit parameters including the subchannel transmit power and/or ...

Joint interference alignment and power allocation for NOMA-based multi-user MIMO systems

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2018
Interference alignment (IA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are key technologies for achieving the capacity scaling required by next generation networks to overcome the unprecedented growth of data network traffic.

Antenna Subset Selection for Cyclic Prefix Assisted MIMO Wireless Communications over Frequency Selective Channels

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2008
Antenna (subset) selection techniques are feasible to reduce the hardware complexity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, while keeping the benefits of higher-order MIMO systems.

On the Sum Rate of MIMO-NOMA and MIMO-OMA Systems

open access: yesIEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2017
In this letter, the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is compared with conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) over multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. It is proved analytically that for a simple scenario of two users, MIMO-NOMA dominates MIMO-OMA in terms of both sum rate and ergodic sum rate.
