A nonlinear elasto-plastic analysis of Reissner-Mindlin plates by finite element method

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
In this paper, a finite element simulation of nonlinear elasto-plastic deformations of Reissner-Mindlin bending plates is described. The previously proposed four-node Q4( element with transverse energy of shearing for thick bending plates is extended to ...

A Cluster Mean Approach for Topology Optimization of Natural Frequencies and Bandgaps With Simple/Multiple Eigenfrequencies

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 126, Issue 17, 15 September 2025.
ABSTRACT This study presents a novel approach utilizing cluster means to address the non‐differentiability issue arising from multiple eigenvalues in eigenfrequency and bandgap optimization. This study builds upon the method proposed by Zhang et al., extending it to eigenfrequency topology optimization using bound formulations.

Modeling an elastic beam with piezoelectric patches by including magnetic effects

open access: yes, 2014
Models for piezoelectric beams using Euler-Bernoulli small displacement theory predict the dynamics of slender beams at the low frequency accurately but are insufficient for beams vibrating at high frequencies or beams with low length-to-width aspect ...

Spatial behaviour in a Mindlin-type thermoelastic plate [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly of Applied Mathematics, 2003
Spatial behaviour is studied for the transient solutions in the bending of a Mindlin-type thermoelastic plate. Some appropriate time-weighted line-integral measures are associated with the transient solutions and the spatial estimates are established for these measures describing spatial behaviour results of the Saint-Venant and Phragmén-Lindelöf type.

Free vibration analysis of functionally graded rectangular nanoplates considering spatial variation of the nonlocal parameter

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2017
We present a new nonlocal elasticity-based analysis method for free vibrations of functionally graded rectangular nanoplates. The introduced method allows taking into account spatial variation of the nonlocal parameter.

An asymptotic Reissner–Mindlin plate model

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2018
A mathematical study via variational convergence of a periodic distribution of classical linearly elastic thin plates softly abutted together shows that it is not necessary to use a different continuum model nor to make constitutive symmetry hypothesis as starting points to deduce the Reissner–Mindlin plate model.

Monitoring of Corrosion Damage by Using iFEM Methodology

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 495-517, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Marine environment is a harsh environment that can cause major issues for marine structures while operating in this environment, including fatigue cracking and corrosion damage, which can yield catastrophic consequences, such as human life losses, financial losses, environmental pollution, and so forth.

Monitoring Water Content Variations From Seismic Noise in a Controlled Laboratory Experiment: A Quantitative Approach Combining Poroelastic Predictions With Kernel Wave Sensitivity Weighting

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Despite the existence of various hydrological and geophysical methods for characterizing the vadose zone and groundwater, it remains challenging to implement cost‐effective, accurate, and efficient techniques for their long‐term monitoring with high spatial resolution. A growing number of recent studies suggest that seismological methods based
