The Hoisting Machines as Source of Higher Harmonics in Underground Mines

The chapter describes the structure of drive systems used in hoisting machinery of underground mines. These devices, due to their special application and power, are characterized by special traits. The most commonly used systems with DC reciprocating motors are described. The so-called complex (multi-pulse) converters are used in those solutions.

A New Method for Fault Diagnosis of Mine Hoist based on Manifold Learning and Genetic Algorithm Optimized Support Vector Machine

This paper reports a new development based on the manifold learning and intelligent classifier for the nonlinear feature extraction and fault pattern recognition of mine hoists. The wavelet packet was firstly used to extract the statistic characteristics of the hoist vibrations to obtain the original feature space.
